A Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we know that there is but one thing impossible to You: to be without pity for those who are in suffering or distress. Look down on us, we beg of You and grant us the grace which we humbly and earnestly implore, through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother to whom You confided us as her children, and whose prayers are all powerful with You. Amen.
 
Loving God,

We lift up in prayer today our friend Jim who continues to carry the Cross with your son Jesus, and endures great suffering in this life. Our friend is strong and balanced in his view of things, and we thank you for helping him to maintain strong faith, hope, and courage in the promise of your son Jesus who loves him. We ask for your continued blessings and strength for Jim, and for comfort and consolation from your Holy Spirit for his family who loves him so much and must be very worried about his situation. We also ask for continued wisdom and compassion on the part of the medical community and insurance people who have a role in Jim’s journey of life. Please bless all these dear people and hear the persistent prayers of your people for Jim as you have in the past.

We pray in the name of your beloved son Jesus, the Good Shepherd of your people.

The Lord, God, rewarded your constancy by making your name known and loved over many centuries by the thousands whom you have aided in time of difficulty. Please assist us now in our present necessity, and intercede before God for our intentions. Obtain for us a firm hope like your own in God’s unfailing protection. Amen

Many thanks and may God’s blessings be with those who continue to pray! My CT scan looked perfect. At this point, there is no cure for my cancer - only treatment. Even the stem cell transplant will only delay the cancer for a time. So, as long as my body responds to this experimental drug, I will remain healthy. A woman who came from Paraguay for treatment now has the fight of her life. She received a stem cell transplant, but her leukemia immediately returned. They were ready to send her home, but she is staying to fight it. I am praying for her, as she has young children at home.
