A Novena Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Heart of Jesus, we know that there is but one thing impossible to You: to be without pity for those who are in suffering or distress. Look down on us, we beg of You and grant us the grace which we humbly and earnestly implore, through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother to whom You confided us as her children, and whose prayers are all powerful with You. Amen.

Brothers and sisters, it turns out that I am a boring patient. I had nothing to tell the physician’s assistant today except that I am working more hours. The CT scan also looked fine - but they forgot to scan my neck, so back I go tomorrow for another scan. Ah, well, what else would I be doing on a day off, anyway! Again, your prayers sustain me through thick and thin. Lord, You know their hearts. Graciously store up treasure for them in Your Kingdom. Amen! Alleluia!

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Praying for Jim.

PSALM 38*
Prayer of an Afflicted Sinner

  1. a psalm of David, for remembrance.
  2. Lord punish me no longer in your anger;
    in your wrath do not chastise me!
  3. Your arrows have sunk deep in me;
    your hand has come down upon me.
  4. My flesh is afflicted because of your anger;
    my frame aches because of my sin.
  5. My inequities overwhelm me,
    a burden beyond my strength.
    II.
  1. Foul and festering are my sores,
    because of my folly.
  2. I am stooped and deeply bowed;
    all day I go about mourning.
  3. My loins burn with fever;
    my flesh is afflicted.
  4. I am numb and utterly crushed;
    I wail with aguish of heart.
  5. My Lord, my deepest yearning is before you;
    my groaning is not hidden from you.
  6. My heart shudders, my strength forsakes me;
    the very light of my eyes has failed.
  7. Friends and companions shun my pain;
    my neighbors stand far off.
  8. Those who seek my life lay snares for me;
    they seek my misfortune, they speak of
    ruin;
    they plot treachery all the day.
    III
  1. But I am like the deaf, hearing nothing;
    like the dumb, saying nothing
  2. Like someone who does not hear,
    who has no answer ready.
  3. Lord, I wait for you;
    O Lord, my God, answer me!
  4. For I fear they will gloat,
    exult over me if I stumble.
    IV.
18.I am very near failing;
my pain is with me always.
19. I acknowledge my guilt
and grieve over my sin.
20.But many are my foes without cause,
a multitude of enemies without reason,
21 Repaying me evil for good;
harassing me for persuing good.
22.Forsake me not, O Lord;
my God, be not far from me!
23.Come quickly to help me,
my Lord and salvation!

PRAYER TO
SAINT PEREGRINE
(The Cancer Saint)
Glorious wonder-worker, St. Peregrine,
You answered the divine call
With a ready spirit,
And forsook all the comforts of the world
To dedicate yourself to God
In the Order of His Most Holy Mother.

You labored manfully
For the salvation of souls;
And in union with Jesus Crucified
You endured the most painful sufferings
With such patience
As to deserve to be
Healed miraculously
Of an incurable cancer
In your leg by a touch
Of his divine hand.

Obtain for me
The grace to answer
Every call of God
And to fulfill His Will
In all the events of life.

Enkindle in my heart
A consuming zeal
For the salvation of souls;
Deliver me from the infirmities
that afflict my body

[State your intention(s) here…]

Obtain for me
Perfect resignation to the sufferings
It may please God to send me,
So that, imitating our Crucified Savior
And His Sorrowful Mother,
I may merit eternal glory in heaven.

Amen.

St. Peregrine, pray for me
And for all who invoke your aid.

St. Peregrine, pray for me
And for all who invoke your aid.

St. Peregrine, pray for me
And for all who invoke your aid.
