sometimes the devil/demons can appear to be or do seemingly good things just to lure you in. I would definitely get the house blessed.

I don’t “feel” that this is the Holy Spirit. Has there been other phenomena?

1 John 4:1

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God.”

I would discuss this with a Priest. Look into the history of your house, property, and furniture. I wouldn’t accept this phenomena. There’s something else going on here.

Someone asked me to post here, so here goes:

All I can say is to talk to your local priest about it and after that, perhaps invite him to the house.

Miracles and signs are very rare, extremely so. God does not want us to go looking-for or expecting physical signs (that’s not to meant that we cannot pray for miracles).

At its most basic, the first question would be whether such things bring one closer to God or farther away.

Please do not try to contact the diocesan exorcist. They will only act if the local pastor contacts them, otherwise they’d be spending all day every day driving around the diocese investigating anything. A diocese isn’t supposed to even release the name of the exorcist(s). So please, don’t take this upon yourself.
 
Thank you Monicad. I have used holy water in the past but no salts. My local priest blessed my home a few months ago and didn’t notice anything unusual.

I will disagree with this statement from FrDavid96. Miracles and signs occur daily. Of course, we don’t look for them. The Holy Spirit certainly can move objects, but probably doesn’t make a habit of it.

Were I in your shoes, I’d consider myself blessed and continue on the road that leads to sanctity.
 
Thank you so much for your comment MtnDwellar. I agree miracles and signs are becoming more and more prevalent over the entire world. So many stories are showing up in social media from many different denominations who are receiving miracles, signs and even visitations without the asking. With the addition of internet communication we are able to join with many in prayer and receive blessings through them as they are through our Catholicism. It’s a joy to share our faith with others and I do consider myself so much more blessed than I deserve! I appreciate your kind words. God bless…

U1 given your issues I suggest you need to be under the direction of a Priest or a recommended Spiritual Director. Your issues cannot be helped at all by asking theological advice of anonymous amateurs who do not even know you. Personal spiritual gifts are not matters for airing in public like this as it tempts one to spiritual pride and feeling special. We are all special to God regardless of gifts or consolations. You also need solid theological guidance as you are going off the rails a bit re your views on these matters.

There are some very good responses in this thread. Do discuss with your parish priest around scriptural guidance with Discernment of Spirit.

When one hears such words or witnesses a physical event then you will need to ask yourself the question: Will this bear fruit and glorify the name of God, or will it distract and detour me from God? Taking the word at face value without seeking confirmation and direction can detour you from the will of God.

When you receive revelation, prophetic words or an answer to prayer. Discern it. Test it. Bring it back to the Holy Spirit through prayer and test it against the Word of God.

The Word of God instructs us to test the spirits as in (1 John 4:1)

Thank you BlackFriar for your comments. I really appreciate all the constructive advice and although I have not had a chance to speak with my Priest about this incidence yet I will. I’m realizing you are correct about not airing things like this in public and will see if this thread is deletable. I totally agree with you in all matters and thank you for being bold enough to lead me in the right direction.
