Well, I just filed my taxes last week and when I saw my husband’s W-2 I wanted to cry. He made $34,568 last year. Not a lot of money when you are the sole support of a family of 9, soon to be 10. After the initial shock I actually felt rather proud of us! We have been so blessed. Never have we had to apply for food stamps or any other type of gov. assistance. We own our own home now–for the last 2 yrs and never missed a payment or been late either. Our credit is good, our kids have never known hunger, we all have everything we need and most of what we want. People always comment on how happy and peaceful our children are. Believe me, not everyone lives the type of life that society tells us we are supposed to live. But those of us who are “abnormal” tend to be happier and so full of peace, hope, love and joy. It is such a relief to rely on God to take care of us. And the times that it seems He has forgotten us, well those are the times we find hidden blessings we never imagined. It is scary to let go and allow God to determine our future. But it is so important for our spiritual health and the spiritual health of our families. It is possible to have a large family with a small or moderate income. It is possible to be satisfied and even joyful while sacrificing. We decided a long time ago that we would rather have our family than stuff.
