1. Souls will be unable to reach perfection who do not strive to
   be content with having nothing, in such fashion that their natural
   and spiritual desire

is satisfied with emptiness; for this is
necessary in order to reach the highest tranquility and peace of
spirit. Hence the love of God in the pure and simple soul is almost continually an act.

We always have two secretaries: the devil, who writes down our bad actions, to accuse us of them; and our good angel, who writes down our good ones, to justify us at the Day of Judgment.

When all our actions shall be brought before us, how few will be pleasing to God, even among the best of them! True to a point Barb however, I remember that St Therese (little flower) wrote how she would feel like going up a stair and then topling down two, until she invoked the Holy Spirit and God gave her the strength she never had.

Seems like all of us eh?

Have to totally agree here, for being there now, it is a place where many donot agree with the peace or some donot believe what you do or say when you relate to how God has led you through the dark night. People could not agree or understand when my daughter was killled, when so much went wrong after, when accounts were passed to me and they were not mine. And yet there was peace.

A friend who played music at my wedding told me that he couldn’t believe that I would choos “for all that Youv’e done I will thank You”. “Thank you Lord” by Hill song (Aus). Do you know it Barb? my friend said I don’t know anyone who has gone through more than you two and yet you chose that song!

Yes where the heart is tuned to Jesus there is no pain, but love for the Heart of Jesus who gave all for me. How could I be sad to lose this fleshly part of me, when I have gained Jesus the Holy Spirit and Heavenly Father for ever.

Laughter is great medicine

An elderly man in Miami calls his son in New York and says, "I hate
to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are
divorcing.

Forty-five years of misery is enough."

“Pop, what are you talking about?” the son screams.

“We can’t stand the sight of each other any longer,” the old man
says.

“We’re sick of each other, and I’m sick of talking about this, so
you call your sister in Chicago and tell her,” and he hangs up.

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone, “Like
heck they’re getting divorced,” she shouts, “I’ll take care of this.”

She calls her father immediately and screams at the old man, “You
are NOT getting divorced! Don’t do a single thing until I get
there. I’m calling my brother back, and we’ll both be there
tomorrow. Until then, don’t do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?” and hangs
up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. “Okay,” he
says, “They’re coming for a visit and paying their own airfares.”

The Voice of Christ

MY CHILD, you can never be perfectly free unless you completely renounce self, for all who seek their own interest and who love themselves are bound in fetters. They are unsettled by

He (Br. Lawrence) told me, that the foundation of the spiritual
life in him had been a high notion and esteem of GOD in faith;
which when he had once well conceived, he had no other care at
first,m (I think this word may be “first” - if anyone can fill in the actual word, please do so) but faithfully to reject every other thought, that he might perform all his actions for the love of GOD.
That when sometimes he had not thought of GOD for a good while***, he did not disquiet himself for it***

ON MERCY
(From Diary of St. Faustina)

April 30 My daughter, know
that My Heart is mercy itself. From this sea of mercy, graces flow out
upon the whole world. No soul that has approached Me has ever gone away
unconsoled. All misery gets buried in the depths of My mercy, and every
saving and sanctifying grace flows from this fountain. My daughter, I
desire that your heart be an abiding place of My mercy. I desire that
this mercy flow out upon the whole world through your heart. Let no one
who approaches you go away without that trust in My mercy which I so
ardently desire for souls.
Pray as much as you can for the dying. By your entreaties, obtain for
them trust in My mercy, because they have most need of trust, and have
it the least. Be assured that the grace of eternal salvation for certain
souls in their final moment depends on your prayer. You know the whole
abyss of My mercy, so draw upon it for yourself and especially for poor
sinners. Sooner would heaven and earth turn into nothingness than would
My mercy not embrace a trusting soul.
