Last two weeks I have been getting blasphemous thoughts at mass and today had a possible lustfull thought Why does this happen at mass and was it ok that I went up for coummunion. I had gone to confession before mass. I am sorry for the thoughts

hi, if i could reference a book; the cloud of unknowing-kind of antique…offering possibility of contemplative prayer- a bit heavy reading…summed up for beginners (and sinners) …as prayer is like being in a cloud/ a lostness/yet there is to be growth…this seems …’ hey, my mind seems to be in a cloud…" This only requires a new learning curve…to seek God; as definitions of him begin as where he is not…then look else where…he is not in nervousness; he is not in fidgeting; he is not to be found in a busy activity…a quiet time is needed…that being discovered as a time to know that you are made in the image of God-and loved no matter what; no matter how a man tries, the perfection is not there…Hence there can be a willful response as a time to exclude human persons, their judgement, and attitude/memories of these/leave them and their words behind and enter cloudy part of the mind; now thoughts proceed that are horrible…That is not God either…those hidden thoughts…developed last weak…still hidden…and return/show themselves, as these had been known to be repeating and come out-just at the inappropriate time…now this is a panic-God would not be in the fears…Look else where…because a man of God cannot waste time to delay healing…(the book-the cloud of unknowing states:“i would leave all that thing that i could think…and choose to my love that thing that i cannot think…”) unquote; so rising above , in prayer time, above the distractions of any thought…this is time to discover how much God loves you/and how much you love God…(at a certain point in time-there is a risk-but ask the Holy Spirit-’ Lord, what am i truly feeling?)…by going to a ‘place’ of
hidden things of two weeks ago…these are in a cloud of the mind-yet divine love-is more powerful…ask for the gift-the presence of God! so that your life will not be in dysfunction, nor disarray, those familiar and painful cycles, which might have already began to lower the quality of your church life and every day work a day life…if God is found in a work and action or thought-let it be to ask the Holy Spirit to dive into the mercy of Christ (it is real and healing)…thx patrick

:o I too had swarms of daydreams assaulting me when I attended mass. Nothing as strange as yours, just daydreams about video games. Nevertheless they were immensely distracting.

I noticed that these daydreams *only *happened when I was in church. I considered the possibility of Satan trying to prevent me from hearing the wonderful words of God, which are spoken through the priests.

Do these lustful daydreams you have happen only during mass?

Rest assured, Catholic235, If Satan is behind this, than that will actually be a good thing, for we would realize that we’re not the true cause behind these thoughts. We’re continue to do our best to pray and resist the devil’s influence.

If the thoughts were not triggered by you than it is not you. You might be thinking these thoughts are yours. Since I don’t know too much of what is going on inside you I would say from what you have said that these thoughts are not yours. Instead of going to confession tell a worthy and competent priest of what goes on inside you and he will direct you more in a better light. Don’t handle this on your own because you are only speculating. People who often receive thoughts as you have received are people who are trying to come close to God but the devil can make you believe that it is you who are thinking these thoughts. Try not to worry too much because the old fox tries his best to make Christians uncomfortable. Give time to a worthy spiritual director and you will be better and stronger to handle this.

“Anyone who desires to receive Christ in Eucharistic communion must be in the state of grace. Anyone aware of having sinned mortally must not receive communion without having received absolution in the sacrament of penance.” (CCC 1415)

vatican.va/archive/ccc_css/archive/catechism/p2s2c1a3.htm

As you might have known, a mortal sin is when someone sins gravely with full consent and knowledge that he or she was sinning at the time.

I suggest that you dismiss those thoughts as soon as you receive them, and you won’t have to worry about anything. 😉
