I know this is old news, but I can’t help but love the guy. Just wondering other Christian’s thoughts.

Did they make a movie about him and what he did? Trying to refresh my memory? Where is he now?

He made a great sacrifice to reveal wrongdoing. Too bad it didn’t get us to rethink thesocietal obsession with safety and security at agonist any cost.

I think that is the same one. I think I left the movie having a favorable opinion of him. I forgot what happened to him though.

He sought asylum in Russia, Putin allowed his girlfriend to come and they might be married now. Trump promised to give him the death penalty if he managed to apprehend him.

So he is in Russia? I had forgotten. I remember the girlfriend. Didn’t he show how under Obama surveilance had increased?

Yes. He exposed the us spying on Germany and other allies. And the cell phone thing. If you remember in the movie they hack a laptop webcam and a Muslim girl is undressing and the men just watched. He says this really happened.

He is a traitor. People concerned about civil liberties don’t hang out in Russia and pal around with the FSB.

Pope Francis is pals around with President Putin…

Just so you know.

A head of state meeting with another head of state is just slightly different from an employee of one government intelligence organization stealing data from his government then fleeing into the arms of one of his country’s primary global rivals and threats and handing all that data to their intelligence organization. That is called treason and defection.

You are swallowing whole the story told by the traitor himself. Taking it at face value. Meanwhile he exhibits the indicators of every traitor in history.

The 4th amendment protects against unwarranted searches. The NSA performed unwarranted searches. This is treason. The NSA also spied on allies. When the law is above the law it because tyranny. The NSA broke the law. He told on them.

A whistle-blower exposing wrong-doing by the government is not a traitor. He is a patriot. As for hanging out in Russia, it is not like he had a wide choice of places of refuge.

I think Snowden is a great hero of our time. He revealed what many already knew, that the US government is run by the deep state which spies on its citizens. He proved, yet again, that an over two hundred year old piece of paper isn’t going to stop government abuse.

Sadly he also helped reveal that many Americans are just fine living in a spy state where you have no privacy. If anyone was deluded to think the US was somehow fundamentally different from the Soviet Union or Nazi Germany he no longer should be.

Snowden is a hero. Anyone not recognising this, and who quietly accepts the crimes, and overreach of the NSA that was done without consent of either rest of the government of the US, or the American people, doesn’t deserve to live in a free nation.

Period.

Snowden and Assange should surrender to American authorities. Have their day in court and be heard. If somebody like Bradley Manning can run for an elected position aftr sentence cummuted, then I’m sure these 2 can build a post exile life back in the States.

Knowing how Bradley Manning was treated I’m not sure why anyone would surrender. Assange is not a US citizen. Why does the US think it has the right to try and jail foreign citizens for acts that did not occur on US soil?

Manning wore the uniform. He’s lucky he wasn’t shot, and instead got a gender reassignment surgery on the tax payers dime.

It is better to face your accuser and win or lose receive judgement, than living in an open prison constantly looking over your shoulder.

Execution may have been a fitting punishment, but torturing a prisoner isn’t right. Manning alleges that his treatment as a prisoner was a form of torture. I agree that it was.

If you have an ignoble accuser then you may not want to face him. If you have an unjust accusers then you may not want to face him. I can see both as reasons not to face US justice.
