Anyhow, the misunderstanding of what God said could as well have been Adam’s or Eve’s

Hi everyone,
- Why God have punished Eve by making the pains in childbearing very severe (Genesis 3:16), and why God have told Abraham to be circumcised in order to keep the covenant (Genesis 17:9-10)?
- Why God covered and punished our sexual organs, if the hand & the mouth that have eaten the fruit, then those parts should have been punished, God is the great creator, why God would create a part in our body that is not 100% perfect, what did that fruit do to us?

The notion of labour was attached to the punishment of both Adam and Eve in different ways: Adam was to make efforts and struggle with the soil in order to produce fruit while Eve was to experience much pain in childbearing, which symbolically corresponded to agricultural productivity.Hi everyone,

Abraham received the commandment of circumcision as the sign of his faith and his relevant covenant with God. Since God made Abraham the father of Israelites, the covenant between God and Abraham was transmitted to the coming generations through a mark confined to the male members of Abraham’s children (nation) in flesh.
God does not punish our sexual organs in the Bible. The circumsion was never a sign of mankind’s punishment, but of Abraham’s election and appointment as the father of believers.

Don’t you think removing a small part of that sexual organ, indicates somehow that God does not like that part of the body, taking into consideration how Lord Jesus indicated that humans will not be performing that sexual act in Paradise:The circumsion was never a sign of mankind’s punishment, but of Abraham’s election and appointment as the father of believers.
“At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.” (Matthew 22:30).

In Catholic teaching the serpent is identified with Satan. If, as we believe, God is omniscient, knowing the beginning from the end, He would’ve known that evil would enter the world from the beginning. Perhaps in Genesis, as in Job, Satan could be said to be a sort of pawn who’s been given free reign, within limits set by God, to test man but ultimately to seek to elicit something positive from the exchange-the “perfecting” of man.
Could it be said that evil would eventually and inevitably enter creation as long as there were beings created with free wills? If it’s true to say that God alone is perfect and therefore creation-all that exists apart from Him-is less than perfect, then doesn’t it also follow that creation-in the form of beings with free wills-might inevitably make less then perfect choices-and that the tendency to make them might be proportionately greater as their freedom is greater-or, in other words, more radically free?
Perhaps the serpents’ purpose was somewhat incidental; a side role to expedite what God knew would be the inevitable fall of man. His presence could also serve to reveal a voice or mentality we may all be able to identify and recognize, that which attempts to wind its’ way into our minds and twist truth into lies-causing ignorance, confusion, and division-division from truth and goodness and order-ultimately division from God.
At any rate I believe that part of the Catholic concept of this process of being perfected-or “divinized”- would include the will itself, man learning for himself that his own perfection lies in having a will which is freely subjugated to the will of God for no other reason than because it simply is right and the highest good. In this scenario, God uses evil to bring about a good –that of man coming to learn his need for God after all.

However, you cannot conclude that God hates male sexual organ or sexual intercourse only because He commands circumcision. Jesus in the New Testament never associates marriage with circumcision, for circumcision neither emasculates a man nor enables him to have sex and procreate.Don’t you think removing a small part of that sexual organ, indicates somehow that God does not like that part of the body, taking into consideration how Lord Jesus indicated that humans will not be performing that sexual act in Paradise:

It is true that Jesus talks of a totally different post-resurrection dimension where both men and women will not marry or have sex because there will be no need for procreation. Nevertheless, this has no connection with Paul’s teachings in the New Testament about the relevance of the Mosaic Law to salvation in Christ.
The story of man’s creation and fall in Genesis does not include the commandment of circumcision either with regard to marriage/sex or divine punishment, and the practice of circumcising males in the Bible does not occur until Abraham’s call by God, who uses circumcision as a sign of His covenant with Abraham and his descendants.
