Thank you, I really enjoyed watching that." The Catholic Church heals with a whisper"…its funny how the media reports on our faith. As if they have never seen or heard of Christianity in practice. I’ve been to healing Masses and have known and seen many healing Priest. They are such a gift from God.

Another thread on Catholic Answers begins with a post asking if miracles are still happening in our day. I was at another Catholic healing service and saw people cured myself. They are still occurring at Fatima and Lourdes too.

My future brother in law, also an atheist ironically, decided to go to one of these because of his love of sociology, being a professor and all. Well when he got there his friend talked to some of the people working the event and he told them them that his friend had a problem, and he does. My brother in law has tinnitus, and that sounded pretty bad so they allowed him to go on stage and be cured. Before his turn though, he saw people ahead of him who were healed, or not. Those that were healed jumped for joy, the crowd roared and they were led down the aisle back to their seat with pats on the back. Those that professed to still have a problem were escorted out the back with light murmuring from the crowd. When it came to be his turn, he was sat in front of the priest and had two men hold him and scream words at him finishing up with a smack on the head from the priest. When asked if he was cured, what do you think he said? That’s right, he said he was, although he wasn’t. He later states the reason for this is that he had an obligation to keep the group in high spirits. He claimed that the group was seeking validation of their faith, and as such, rewarded any support of proof, and shunned anything that disagreed with how they already believed. Whether he was right or wrong it’s up to you. I hope you enjoyed the story

I understand that there are hoaxes out there and that perhaps your future brother in law did feel pressured into saying he was healed when he indeed wasn’t. Simply because the people expected something to happen and were dissappointed when it did not, doesn’t mean it was a shunning, just a disconnect from what they wanted. Also, this one incident does not discount the rest of the miraculous healings which are performed by other priests. To examine one situation and put a blanket on it for all similar happenings is the first fallacy I learned and does not constitute your disbelief. Thank you for the story nonetheless, and I hope all will go well with yours or your future brother in laws wedding. Hopefully this does not offend you, but God bless.
