Tens of thousands of new Catholics are expected to join the Church at Easter, including a former Planned Parenthood director and seven members of the same family.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) released the statistics of those expected to join the Church based on participation in the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion, a step in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults that takes place at the beginning of Lent.

21 here, but that is a drop in the bucket, one parish has over 150

At my parish there are two of us being baptised and confirmed at Easter, one having a conditional baptism and then confirmation, two going to confession and then confirmation, one just going to confession as they are lapsed and one sadly won’t be joining us as they’re waiting for an annulment, but they’re going to be included in the welcome anyway and I’m going to be her sponsor next year as she’s a good friend of mine. 🙂

Over here in Britain we’ve got several hundred Anglicans joining us forming the Ordinariate, I think the amount of people joining is over a thousand but I’m not sure.

All very happy news 🙂

I look forward to Easter Vigil to be present for those who will be baptised and then I will join the Church the following week as a Candidate (that is how my parish does this).

What is the current numbers of those joining vs. those that have stopped attending?

We have 18 being baptized (including “my” 7 kids/teens), about 5 being received into the church and another 15 or so in the adult confirmation program!

We just had our rehearsal this morning and that is always exciting. It is the first time we get to see the whole group and it begins the downward slope through Holy Week! 😃
