I’m going to Abbey Youth Fest tommorow and they have a booth set up for guys discerning the call. I really look foreward to it!
Enjoy your Youth Fest. We have our Youth Ralley in Thibodaux next weekend, hubby and I wll have a booth to sell some items, they put us next to the confessional, hopefully not too close!!😃

I just got back from Abbey Fest. hope you enjoyed it as much as i did. God Bless

Have you tried to talk to the Diocese about helping you financially so you could switch to a Catholic school?
Good news! I just got admitted to Franciscan University. I hope to study theology and psychology while I am over there. I will also take some philosophy classes just in case I decide to go to seminary afterwards.

That’s awesome.
I want to go to Franciscan University once I finish high school.
Just out of interest, what was your GPA and SAT scores?

I actually took the ACT but I would rather not say what my score was. However, I do know that a 21 on the ACT is required for admission to Franciscan University.
My high school GPA was 3.2.
My college GPA is 3.47 which makes me eligible for the Franciscan Annual scholarship.
I am not sure what the GPA requirement is for Franciscan University. I think it is around 2.0 to 3.0.

Congratulations on your score!

I went to confession today with my spirtual director (who, as I believe I said earlier, is the parish priest at my chruch) and he informed me after the confession that he had contacted the vocation’s director and I can probably expect a call this week.:extrahappy:

Excellent!👍

I still need to schedule another meeting with my spiritual director- I met with him once, and that was last fall.🤷

Nice!

I’m in pretty much the same stage as you, except, I’ve just talked to my vocations director. He’s invited me up after Easter for a meeting to discuss things. 🙂

God bless you!

Regarding the Intercessors of the Lamb…

I was with the community for a couple of months and although the hermits are very loving and wonderful people, I didn’t feel the spirituality fit me. I was very drawn to the Intercessory prayer, but find myself to be a more “traditional” Catholic and love Latin. The Intercessors are very charismatic. The priests seem to be very holy, but the Mass is charismatic. After receiving Holy Communion, the community prays in tongues and then different members will call out any images or words that come to them. I was uncomfortable with that. I’m not saying it’s wrong, but it just wasn’t for me.

Seminarians do go to the seminary which the local bishop directs them to go and the priests help out at the local parishes for the first year or so. Most of the brothers there want to become priests but cannot enter into seminary right away–I think for financial purposes (I’m not sure).

Bellwether is a very busy place and the biggest complaint that I feel I have is that we didn’t have much time to pray. Although on Sundays, the entire day is a “hermit day” where you have your quiet time. Much of the formation consists of journaling…you write to Jesus and then write back what you feel he is telling you. I had a problem with that as well…but others really benefited from it.

They are a very loving community, but I found myself becoming very homesick for the traditional Mass.

I hope this helps…🤷 😛

I’m doing pretty well. Trying to discern still. Although I recently got involved with a girl so I will see where God is pulling me I guess. The best part of the thing is that she is considering the religious life as well so she knows where I stand so we won’t have to go through any hard feelings if either of us decides that we are indeed called to a religious life and need to leave the relationship. Good times all around haha.
Wow, I don’t know of anyone my age besides myself who has seriously considered holy ordination. You’re really lucky to have someone to help to guide you.

Very. Haha. Thats all I can think to say she thinks more about the personal aspects of the clergy which help a lot because I tend to just think about doctrine a lot as opposed to the difference in people’s lives.

I have that problem, about thinking about doctrine rather than God’s love and his effect on our lives. But doctrine’s important, too.

That’s what gets me in trouble because I spend so much time looking for doctrinal evidence and proof of the church being true rather than seeing it in the creations God has made.

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. From what I’m told, that tends to happen a lot throughout seminary, due to the intense and deep studies.

I seem to remember Archbishop Dolan mentioning this in his excellent book “Priests for the Third Millenium”. He warns of the dangers of getting too involved in the study of Christ that you lose sight of him right in front of you. As he put it (paraphrased), “You know about Christ, but you don’t know Christ. You talk about him, but you don’t talk to him.”

If you think it’s becoming a problem, talk with your spiritual director about this. That’s what he’s there for. 🙂

I’ve been thinking quite a bit about my vocation, and recently I’ve been having doubts whtehr or not God is calling me to be a priest. I’m wondering whether He might want me to be a brother. Just pray for me, okay?🙂

Don’t you have enough brothers already?

Certainly, I’ll pray for you!

We should talk about the brother thing a bit sometime. I’ll have to treat you and your “brothers” out to lunch one of these days.

Hey everyone,

If you say this, please pray for me. Without getting into details… Lately I’ve been wondering if my calling is not to the order of missionaries I’ve been talking with. Tomorrow I have a meeting with the diocesan vocations director, and I’m a bit nervous.

I could use any prayers you can spare. Thanks! 🙂

It’s just an idea that’s been floating around in my head:shrug: and you know that there’s plenty of space up there;)
