…mostly, people dating at our age aren’t looking into long term relationships. So if you do meet someone who is (and it’s kind of hard to know for sure) then, yea, you should tell her… My mother has a friend who was engaged to a guy. But he decided against it (without notifying her) and became a priest. He now works at the Vatican. It’s all about being conscious of what’s happening around you, for both individuals. Yes, people do look tend to at you oddly if you tell them that you’ve been called to the priesthood.
Honestly I’ve decided to quit dating in general for a while. I’m single anyways so its not a big deal, I’ll just stop looking for a potential girl I guess is what I’m trying to say. I think it will better help me discern the priesthood. If on the off chance I do meet someone even if I don’t plan on going anywhere with the relationship I would most definitely tell them just as a heads up/courtesy type thing haha. 👍

Okay, good for you. 👍 I’ll stop bothering you about it now…

So I’m trying to get in touch with my vocations director as well as that priest I mentioned earlier who spoke at the confirmation program at my parish I’ll keep you guys updated on how my discernment is going.

OK, here I go again, but I think that I want to go to collage and get a Masters Degree in childcare and health, and then enter the seminary. I kinda want to be a parish priest now. I don’t know, I’ll probably think of something else sooner or later.

Do you have a spirtual director?

Nope. Should I ask my parish priest or would I go to someone else?
I asked my parish priest because he is smart and also has a lot of faith. A spirtual director isn’t just for vocation talk, but more about your spirtual life and how to improve it.

Vocation wise, you should talk to a vocation director. I have not gotten to that point, yet.

The nearest vocations director is apparently in my diocese’s main parish so I’m just going to start a dialogue with my parish priest about this to see what he thinks. He is a rather new priest so I think it would be great to hear what he has to say.

Just to let anyone interested know I have discerned that I am called to the priesthood! Thanks be to God whose blessings know no bounds 😃 I give my life to the service of him and his flock with the utmost of happiness and love. :grouphug:

What brought you to the point that you are now absolutely called to be a Priest?

Through my prayers and time I have taken to be before the presence of God in the holy Eucharist, I have felt a gentle and still small voice resounding within me louder and louder telling me this is where I am supposed to be. One night in particular stands out in my mind. After the last Sunday of Advent(though I hadn’t decided then) I was helping to clean the church of the wreath and all the pine needles and I was sweeping over the seal on the church floor that said *In nomine patris, et fili, et spiritus sancti * and I just got this wave of emotion and a definite feeling of comfirmation that I was born to serve in the church. It went with me until recently when I felt a definite feeling that I am called. I don’t know, its interesting, I am not sure how to explain how I know besides that feeling of comfort.

I know what you mean, I’ve known other people who’ve felt it too. It really just depends on the person, though. I’ll be praying for you in your vocations;) ! You are very lucky.

That’s interesting.

I defiently had one of my strongest experiences during Adoration this weekend. It was a teen retreat for confirmation. I was around 5 feet away from the Blessed Sacrament and was weeping for no reason that was apparant to me. Every person in the room was experiencing the same thing. I’ve seen some people come away completely different.

I’m still discerning, but more of what order I am called to. I’ve felt a strong calling to the Jesuits, like you said you have.

Thank you so much! I appreciate it 👍

Youth retreats are a great way to discern a vocations! Also I just wanted to say, WOOT JESUIT BUDDY!

Are you a Sophmore? Perhaps we can go to Seminary at the same time xD.
Junior, but we’ll be close enough. Although I would like to get my B.A. before I enter the seminary just to get the college experience under my belt.

O.k. I lost my call to the Jesuits as soon as the vocation director told me that they don’t get to see their families often. I am a big family person :grouphug: I now feel a call to the normal parish life. I love to work with kids, so I would get to help with the Catacism (Spelling?) and hold children’s masses.
