Well, heres my vocation update.
My research into the Jesuits has pretty much brought to the conclusion that I don’t want to be one. While there are good jesuits, it seems that there has been some drifting away and I have had priest tell this to me.
So, I’m pretty much back at where I started religious order wise, as I do not feel any type of calling to Diocese.
We did have some talkers at my church from an order called
The Intercessors of the Lamb and they were quite interesting and I talked to them for awhile.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.🙂

I think I’ve mentioned that I’ve had several encounters with the Legionnaires of Christ, but overall, I’m kinda stuck in terms of discernment right now. I’m attending a Dominican school, so I am under some obligation to consider them… actually, they might not be a bad fit for me. I just don’t know.🤷
 
The Intercessors are a pretty hardcore group consisting of lay people, sisters, priests, and hermits whose primary charism is intercession. From their website (bellwetheromaha.org):🙂

I know a guy who was thinking about joining them. I also hear that their summer conferences are spectacular! They’re definitely worth checking into!
 
If I were to join the Intercessors of the Lamb, would I still recieve a good education in theology and philosophy?

While I do not know really any details about their formation program, if you were to join them with the intent of becoming a priest, you most definitely would still attend seminary and complete all of the standard theology and philosophy requirements that any priest would need to complete. Now, if I recall correctly, I think you were interested in the Jesuits before. The Intercessors most likely wouldn’t have as rigorous of a formation as the Jesuits, but I would imagine that it would still be pretty good.
 
I would absolutely love to join the Jesuits if they weren’t so liberal. Their spirituality really appeals to me and with 10-12 years of formation, they could really form the most formidable intellects with that amount of education.

However, there is no point wishing about the glory days of the Jesuits, they are falling apart.

My focus is on Priesthood at a diocesan level. However, I’ve been trying to contact our vocations director for MONTHS and he still hasn’t gotten back to me. My spiritual director (parish priest) is a bit annoyed and the lack of communication is hardly encouraging…

We have 3 seminarians in our diocese at the moment - now I know why.

Not all Jesuits are liberal. They have a few odd balls, though.
 
Certainly, the Jesuits are not all bad. There are some Jesuits that are absolutely hardcore and utterly zealous in their love of Christ. These are the guys that really attracted me to it.

However, I’d want to be able to say the Tridentine Mass and have a really very orthodox formation, which I don’t think I’d be able to get at a Jesuit seminary. (Do they have seperate seminaries?)

From what I’ve heard, the seminaries were the first to go when the liberals invaded, which is half of the problem we have now.

What’d the other half of the problem be?
 
Sexual revolution, feminism, a new Mass that is nearly indistinguishable from a Protestant prayer service…

Lots of problems to be solved but I couldn’t care less as long as we still have the Eucharist, The Church and the Mother of God. 🙂

Or are they just starting to rebuild?

The interesting thing about the Jesuits is that they have lasted through many periods of trial within the Church and always moved forward despite troubled times.

I really have no idea if they are starting to rebuild or not. I hope so - I pray so. However, a lot of damage has been done.

With a new Black Pope, things might get interesting.

Yes, the Society of Jesus is a wonderful order and has survived many troubles in the Church. Indeed, it was founded on trouble. To combat the errors of Protestantism and with their zeal they suceeded in many areas of Europe.

Wherever there is trouble - there is the Jesuits. Whereas before, the knight sent to combat it. Now, a cause of it.

Hi everyone, my name is Joey Ferral and I am also discerning the priesthood and religious life. I have gone through a part of the process of getting admitted into seminary, but unfortunately, I was not accepted. I went to a priesthood discernment retreat with my diocese a couple of weeks ago and my vocation director told me that I would not be able to continue the process of admission to seminary at this time due to some private reasons I would rather not mention. Anyways, I have decided to finish my college degree and I have about two more years to go.

My question that I have for anyone is this. I was told by my archbishop that I could take philosophy classes at a secular university and that some of the classes could transfer. However, I was told by one of my fellow parishioners that taking philosophy classes at a secular university is not a good idea. I guess he is giving me the idea that the philosophy classes at a secular university will challenge my faith.

I would do anything to go to a Catholic University so I could start my philosophy classes, but I do not have the financial means to do so. I feel that it is best for me to take advantage of my instate tuition.

I would appreciate any of your responses and answers. Thank you

Have you tried to talk to the Diocese about helping you financially so you could switch to a Catholic school?
 
O.K. i’m back!
I am going to talk with the Benedictians here in Louisiana. I feel that I want to spend a few years as a brother and pray about my vocation to the priesthood and then continue my studies If I feel I’m ready for them.

So glad to hear you are making progress SacredHeartFan. Sorry I’ve been gone for a while I got really busy with school and work but I should be posting more often now. So how is everyone doing on their discernement?
 
I recently called the vocations director and said I was ready for the psyc exam. Recently I met a girl though… We’re just friends right now but I don’t know. I’ll give it some time to see what God is going to tell me. I need a clarification…
 
hey guys! i’m still praying for all of you! I just got my Brown Scapular invested on me. After the priest did it with the wool scapular my grandmother gave me a four way cross with the Scapular medal on the back. I just signed up for alter server training. (for those that didn’t know, I am in Jr. High) So hows everyone else doing?
 
I’m doing pretty well. Trying to discern still. Although I recently got involved with a girl so I will see where God is pulling me I guess. The best part of the thing is that she is considering the religious life as well so she knows where I stand so we won’t have to go through any hard feelings if either of us decides that we are indeed called to a religious life and need to leave the relationship. Good times all around haha.
 
I’m going to Abbey Youth Fest tommorow and they have a booth set up for guys discerning the call. I really look foreward to it!
