Do you not fear the Wrath (forget rewards) of God for such continued, unrepented sin?

Do not Quakers reject abortion as an evill?

No they very well might believe it. But they realize others have different religious and faith beliefs on this very personal, private issue. As well as different political beliefs existing as to whether women have the right to choose and whether abortion should be a legal option for women in some cases. They realize a democratic society attempts to come up with a law of the land as Roe has been for nearly 40 yrs now. And as they understand any law on this issue is never going to satisfy every segment of such a diverse population, they struggle with the idea of forcing their beliefs about this issue onto others in such a democracy of plural beliefs.

Or others believe it and are not pro choice but they weigh a variety of other issues in the consideration of how to cast their vote. For those Catholics here who I’ve seen express their opposition to abortion but support of Obama, they seem to understand their Church has not said a Catholic must be and vote Republican.
Roe is not law, it is a court opinion.

As an outsider only reading newspapers and interacting a bit with Americans on interent forums it seems that the USA is quite a divided country. When President Bush was in the White House all we ever read about was how he was hated yet he won a second election. Then we heard President Obama had won a landslide in 2008 now all we hear about is how he is hated. I remeber reading a quote by John Wayne saying how even though he did not vote for JFK he was the president and he supported him as president. Is that sort of approach a thing of the past now?

Uh huh…killing another human is a “personal, private issue.” You’ve just defined the evil stance liberals take on abortion.

I am in Good Hands thank you…the “wrath” of God was fully embraced by Christ on the cross…we are not under “wrath” but under grace…I would find myself under the “wrath” if I went against the dictates of my formed conscience on the matter of my choice to exercise my right to vote in a free democracy…you may find many Friends who share your view…others do not…

“Religious” threats of “damnation” and God’s “wrath” hold little sway with me…you must vote as your beliefs and church instruct you to vote…I must do the same…no religious institution WILL dictate how I vote as an American citizen…God will lead and instruct…so I follow the Light Within and vote as I feel is right and good to do so.

My Momma taught me that it was not proper to discuss politics, religion or money in polite company. What say we all share our financial statements to make this thread really complete! 😃

Of course, Momma’s dead… and I’m not sure this is polite company, anyway.🙂
(emphasis mine)

How on earth did I miss this one? 👍👍👍

And for the record, I’m willing to contribute a blll— financial statement too - that is, if I can find one that’s not chock full of other people’s money coerced from them for my pleasure and leisure…😃

I think I know what I’d put at the top of my list of things I fear…

Yes Matt, and in the end God will judge our hearts deeply on everything as his children, not as a Republican or a Dem and according to their particular political platforms.
We are sinners and we will be judged as such.
Peace, Carlan

If the sick do not have adequate, affordable healthcare, they could die. If the hungry do not have food, they could die. If the homeless do not have shelter, they might die. If the marginalized or less fortunate are faced with choosing between food on the table for their children or taking their prescription medication, they could die. If the environment is not protected, God’s creation could die. As George W Bush convinced us that Iraq had WMD, I recall watching the bombs beginning to drop. And people were killed. Peace.
Thank you for enunciating it so very clearly. Might I add that babies in the womb may also die if their mothers can’t access basic sustenance or health care on a regular basis, be that because of war, unemployment, lack of resources, lack of education or social exclusion. Of course, those babies are not deliberately torn limb to limb, so the question of whether they count in ‘respecting life’ is an open one…

I don’t know how you’d consider 53% a “landslide” but it was definitely a wide margin compared to the last two elections.

Probably.

Has Obama resumed production of oil [removed the permitorium?] in Louisiana? No.

Has Obama resumed production of oil in Alaska? No.

Has Obama backed away from that sudden discovery of a lizard in the Texas oil and gas fields? No.

Has Obama endorsed and approved the Keystone XL pipeline in the North Dakota “region”? No.

Has Obama retracted or rescinded or backed away from his statement of putting so many penalties on coal use that “the price of electricity would necessarily skyrocket”? No.

Has Obama backed away from EPA’s proposed regulations on smokestacks? No.

Has Obama backed away from Dept of Interior restrictions on uranium mining? No.

… go down the list of energy related hits …

And, if Obama is re-elected then he will be free to scorch the earth of American energy production and use.

So, again, Seekerz. What do you think of your party?

Ishii
Sorry, but at our house we haven’t been able to throw a party in a while - not enough hard-working pockets to pick I’m afraid.

We never had a health care issue in this country we had cost and insurance issues.
I will freely admit that I only skimmed your post, but this made me stop. Would you mind clarifying what you mean by ‘health care issue’? I will restrain myself from responding without a clear understanding of what you consider health care issues.
