health care, …Is health care better? Yes, more people are covered, cannot be refused for prior conditions, and cannot be dropped because they get sick.
the environment, …??? The legislation destroying most gains was passed during the Bush administration. Not yet reversed. Needs much more work in this area
the middle class, …??? What middle class? Not much of it left. The "right to work’ legislation will destroy more of it. Also pretty well done in by the deregulation of Wall Street and the banking industry. Oh I think that happened during the Reagan administration
the lower class, …??? At least there are some safety nets, but now enough. Do you volunteer at a homeless shelter, better yet, form one. Include child care, showers, food. And yes, I have worked with the homeless and disenfranchised. Even the working poor ran out of money before they ran out of month.
education, …??? Hmm, Have you heard about the war on teachers? Now they have to teach to tests rather than teach kids to think
unemployment,…??? Getting a bit better, but has a long way to go. Saving the auto indrusties helped keep several million in jobs. numbers are up slightly, but we still have far too many unemployed.
social security, …??? I think in the long run it will be there. By the way, it is not welfare for the aged. I paid into it all my life.
women, …??? Not as bad as it used to be. I find it interesting that more women have kept their jobs than men in the current cutbacks. I have to wonder if that is because they are paid less.
the elderly, …??? Not touching this, I am one.
civil rights, …??? Much better than it was in the 50’s and 60"s
/gun control,…??? Thought I was gonna die when I saw that man on TV with a gun strapped to his hip at a rally for the President. Where was the secret service
high cost of prescriptions etc. etc. etc…??? WEll and I have to ask why they are more expensive here than in Canada, whose standards are as high as ours. I ded see that the “donut hole” is gradually being closed.
There are some improvements, but they are incremental. Things are not going to turn around all at once.
I really fault congress for a lot of this. They are not doing their jobs, but manage to accrue a lot of port. They have earned their 9% approval rating.
Economy…???
Security…???
