The position of the President on abortion is incidental to the law so there is no “lesser of two evils” in practice on this issue. No, even if the Republican and Democrats both keep abortion legal, proportionate reasoning the Bishops have said is to vote for the lesser of two evils, so that some lives can be saved.
No just aiding and abetting. You’re not committing murder by voting for a pro-choice politician who has no authority to either end or expand the right to an abortion. Abortion remains legal regardless of the stance of the President. Its ridiculous that people focus so narrowly on a single issue that the President can’t even address.
2270 Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life. The Pope is not infallible and neither are his comments unless the Magisterium specifically says otherwise. This hasn’t happened since 1950.
You can’t aide and abet in a cause which the person in question isn’t even involved. No just aiding and abetting.
The least of these must include the preborn children. If we don’t protect them, who will? We can still support the poor while supporting the pregnant women who are scared and think abortion is their ONLY CHOICE. The man sitting in the white house today thinks its perfectly okay to let a child that survived an abotion attempt, be left to DIE w/o any medical care because the intent was to KILL THE CHILD.Goodnight brethren in Christ.
I believe Obama will win the next election, if only because those who consider themselves superior in the faith department, have failed to back up that conviction with real love for ‘the least of these’. Sometimes, we get so caught in our roles, that we forget to act, thinking mistakenly that the costumes and the set are sufficient. I also believe that God has a calling for the president as He has for all of us. May he find it and may he take heed.
God can use anybody He chooses, for whatever reason He sees fit. We don’t call the shots, He does.
Are you, in fact, saying that all voters who have voted Democratic are murderers? No, even if the Republican and Democrats both keep abortion legal, proportionate reasoning the Bishops have said is to vote for the lesser of two evils, so that some lives can be saved. You have no idea that abortion as it stands today will be the same if a new president is elected, if roe vs wade is overturned which it likely will, it will go back to the states and lives will undoubtedly be saved.
And not only then issue of abortion, the Democrat platform for support for embryonic stem cell research is also against Catholic teaching and so is refusal to defend marriage between a man and a woman.
That is true, but why should the Pope words on politics be ignores? The Catechism is part of the Magisterium which is clear on the importance of human life from conception to natural end. It does not make sense for anybody to say it would be really licit for a Catholic then voting for a pro abortion candidate who opposes everything the Catechism has to say on the value of human beings.I thought Benedict was only “infallible” when he spoke “ex cathedra”…his opinions are just that…opinioons…according to what’s been said on this web board…“infallibility” has only been exercised twice…so how can his opinions be…‘infallible’? Even Paul offered his opinons…“not of the Lord”…but Paul’s opinions.
Is teaching that everything the Pope opines on is “infallible”…the real teaching of the Catholic church? Or is that a heretical teaching? You made an interesting comment that has been denied over and over on this board…except when one needs to “drive home” a point it seems.![]()
Or while believing Christians continue to not make them suffer politically for their support of anti-life issues. The least of these must include the preborn children. If we don’t protect them, who will? We can still support the poor while supporting the pregnant women who are scared and think abortion is their ONLY CHOICE. The man sitting in the white house today thinks its perfectly okay to let a child that survived an abotion attempt, be left to DIE w/o any medical care because the intent was to KILL THE CHILD.
WWJD, I ask you? He would NEVER support a candidate that believes dismembering a child in the womb is legimiate medical procedure!
Abortoon is NOT rare…not at the rate of 3000-4000 a day!
Democrats will never support ending abortion as long as they believe the right to kill a child somehow makes a woman EQUAL to a man!
NARAL disagrees with you:Abortion is an** irrelevant** issue when voting for President. The President of the United States does not have the Constitutional authority to do anything about it.
Amazing how those who are afraid that abortion may be restricted are so concerned that a pro-life candidate may be elected to the presidency. Yet, you think it is irrelevant. The president has more power over policies that affect our reproductive rights than any other person in government. This unique authority can be used to protect or take away our rights.
Does it matter who gets appointed to the Supreme Court or to lower federal courts? Do the people the president puts in charge of key health-care programs help or hinder women’s freedom and privacy? Could the president stop bad bills from becoming law by vetoing anti-choice legislation?
The answer to all of these questions is yes. That’s why we published The Powers of the President: Reproductive Freedom and Choice. This report takes a look at specific ways the president influences whether we are in charge of our personal, private decisions, from abortion to birth control to many other important issues.
The Magisterium is clear on a lot of issues; issues which the platform of the GOP runs contrary to.The Catechism is part of the Magisterium which is clear on the importance of human life from conception to natural end…
No one said he should be ignored but Catholics aren’t obligated to either believe or act on statements made by the Pope which aren’t infallible. We do not ignore the Pope’s words when he is not speaking ex cathedra, so why should he be ignored when it comes to politics.
That, and looking away while others are killed and you could actually do something about it. It’s just a “personal, private choice” to kill an innocent human being, don’t you know…No just aiding and abetting.
Life trumps all the other issues. As the Popes have stated. You can’t collect welfare if you are dead. The Magisterium is clear on a lot of issues; issues which the platform of the GOP runs contrary to.
No one said he should be ignored but Catholics aren’t obligated to either believe or act on statements made by the Pope which aren’t infallible.
I have never said that. I can’t answer your question, I don’t think so, because a pro abortion candidate voter is not directly in the abortion room, or in the lab where a scientist is destroying embryonic stem cells, but is it material cooperation if you vote for somebody that wants to continue legalized abortion or extend legalized abortion, when you choose to vote for them over a pro life canidate. It is question for a Priest to answer. Are you, in fact, saying that all voters who have voted Democratic are murderers?
Tell that to the convicted accomplices. You can’t aide and abet in a cause which the person in question isn’t even involved.
Have you found anything from the Magisterium to support your viewpoint? You’ve been asked, but you keep focusing on trying to dismiss the statements of the Pope and Bishops as opinions to bring anything contrary. You’ve posted opinions not doctrine approved by the Magisterium.
Nazi Germany disagrees. You can’t aide and abet in a cause which the person in question isn’t even involved.
Probably not, but they were called liars on another thread and that was allowed to stand.Originally Posted by colmywaykurtz

Indeed. Let’s not talk about the killing of innocents sanctioned by the president. Let’s get back to how well he’s doing in the polls right now.Getting back to the original post…before it was hijacked…which USED to be an offense here…things are looking up for the current president.
