anyone else made their First Confession yet?

I did. It was great.

Although, I forgot something, which I may go confess today.

I went for my *second *confession on Thursday, and mentioned that I had something I’d forgotten to confess the first time, that I remembered as I was driving home. Father said, “And did you remember to THANK GOD that it was *already *forgiven?”

Sheepishly I said, “Yes but I feel I need to confess it just to get it off my chest.” :o He let me go ahead and confess but he clearly didn’t think it was necessary.

When you say the Act of Contrition, anything you forgot is covered in the “all my sins” portion of the prayer. **You have been forgiven! **

This time, though, I truly felt a weight lift from my shoulders when I heard, “I absolve you…” 🙂

I had my first confession last month, and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. For Lent, I’m going to confession once a week. I was amazed at how, not only did I feel like a weight was lifted off my shoulders, but I truly feel filled with God’s grace, which gives me the strength to resist my old sins, no matter how tempted I am!

Our Diocese had the Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion last Sunday. Our Cathedral in Toldeo, OH is absolutely breathtaking.

👋

Our RCIA class is starting to wrap up with 3 more topics to go - don’t know if we’ll reschedule last week’s RCIA class, which was cancelled due to the ice storm that night.

Now just watch - I’ll probably end up running up to the front pew after my first confession. 🙂

Just think, guys, a few more weeks and we’re Home! My sponsor, who doubles as my English teacher at school, has been wonderful. It’s certainly been quite an investment of time on his part. When I had asked him after school one day if he’d sponsor me, he said he’d be honored. I’d like to get him something to thank him, but I’m not sure what. His confirmation saint is Saint Paul, and I’d like to get him something depicting Paul mentoring Timothy… at least along those lines. Any ideas?

I can barely stand the anticipation of it all! I am so incredibly excited!

I second this notion! I took some time today while tending to my flu-stricken wife to put together a small prayer corner in our bedroom. I used a small table and placed on it a clay crucifix we made together, a candle, holy water, my Bible, and various prayers. I hope that it will remind me everyday to thank God for the blessings he has given us during the entire RCIA process!

We went to the Cathedral yesterday for the Rite of Recognition/Call of Candidates for Continuing Conversion. The Cathedral was PACKED, and of all the people there, MY Dh got interviewed for the Catholic Moment! 😃

We had three different services. The cathedral was packed as well…I was surprised by the young people coming into the Church, like, college age.

Cool about your husband!

I bet you are so excited for your whole family to be Catholic now! Praise God!

I love this thread. You guys are so infectious.🙂

Maybe I should have my husband read this thread & he’ll want to join too. 😃

I’m a recent revert married to a nondenom. I’m leaving it all up to God to convert him. 😉

I’d just like to say “Welcome Home” in advance to all of you!

God Bless

count me and my wife in!!!

Went to the rite of election at the Cathedral of Mary our Queen in Maryland. The place was huge! and it was packed. I have never felt an experience like that in my life. It was so moving to see the hundreds of people not only joining the Church but out in the pews supporting you. I don’t know how easter is going to top it, but I guess it well when we have a chance to partake during the communion. I’m so looking forward to confession. I heard it is a tremendous cathartic experience. Something about owning up to your wrong and being in agreement with the priest and God that you have sinned. I so desire to hear your sins are forgiving

Me too! :extrahappy:

I’m nervous, especially about first confession (er… what if they say, “oh sorry, you’re FAR too evil after all!” LOL) but mostly I’m SO excited, and SO grateful!

The time really is flying now and I spend more and more of it in prayer and reflection - while this seems such a gift to me, I realise it is also a responsibility.

I just feel so very blessed. :angel1: I got all teary when I signed the book of the elect and hope I won’t be bawling when I finally receive the sacraments! (Tears of joy, of course!)

It’s funny. As a catechumen, they say I won’t need a first confession, though they recommend going soon after my Baptism/Confirmation. Part of me is relieved at not having to spell out so many horrible things…yet some piece of me thinks that could’ve been cathartic.

All of those “horrible things” will be washed away at your baptism! :dancing: The Lord is good and his mercy endures forever! 😃

Me!

[TeresTala waving her hand in the air and jumping up and down!]

Our RCIA Director (who is also my sponsor - clearly I am a hardened case) keeps complaining that Easter is SO early this year she can’t get everything done. Then she swats me because she knows I’m going to grin and say, “Yeah, Easter’s EARLY this year…”

The fact that Easter falls so early this year makes me thank God for how much He really cares and thinks about us. He knew that we’d all be swimming the Tiber this year, and I like to think of it as an extra little gift. 😃
