what new thing did you learn today?
TIL that Ancient Egyptians built King Ramses II statue with precise accuracy to be illuminated by the Sun, a phenomenon that only occurs twice a year. Once on February 22nd for his coronation and again on October 22nd for his birthday.

TIL lavendar repels ants. So next year I am going to try to plant it all around the perimeter of my house!

Today I learned that if I dry the laundry while making a cheeseburger in the kitchen, the smell will get pulled through the drier and cause the laundry to smell faintly of cheeseburger.

Didn’t really notice it until my wife washed all of the hand towels from our gym.

All the towels for the gym ended up smelling of cheeseburger.

I personally think this hilarious, my wife not so much. You go to the gym to work out and lose weight…but for some reason you can’t stop thinking about cheeseburgers.
 
TIL that double paned windows are NOT good! Yes, I was cleaning the little window above the front door and it has stains on the glass inside the two panes…ugh!

TIL that some are going crazy by staying home…we think our neighbor is showing signs of being bothered by us for some reason…we installed a camera in the front to catch him in the act… 😬

TIL God is in control…for my husband has stated to me that he is being bothered by the Virus! Depression is on the increase… :cry:
 
TIL I learned German Chocolate cake is named after an American baker, Samuel German, and is not from Germany.

I don’t know why, but this has affected me more than anything else in this thread.

TIL that New Jersey now has spotted lantern flies.
But no murder hornets.
 
Oh…how a homade german chocolate cake would be a blessing for me served with a cup of wonderful coffee!
 
Today I learned how total stranger which I never saw in my life can make your day much better in way you never expect to be.

Yesterday I learned that when I can’t read someone’s mind as to which gas pump they were planning on pulling into, they will give me the finger.

Today I learned that it’s really hard to tell if someone is smiling under a mask but if you assume they are, your day is better than yesterday’s! 😇
 
TIL you cannot eat raw elderberries. They are poisonous. They must be cooked thoroughly before you eat them.
 
TIL in 1957 at an MLB game a woman was hit by a foul ball. It broke her nose. The game was paused as medics came to tend to her. As they carried her away on a stretcher, play resumed and a foul ball then struck her as she was being carried off by the medics. The second ball broke a bone in her knee.
