TIL Johnny Cash came up with the lyrics “But I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die,” by sitting and thinking of what the worst reason would be to kill someone.

TIL cats have more toes on their back paws than on their front paws.

TIL how to remove the back of my Kyocera Cadence flip-phone (yes I’m a granny) w/o destroying it. Had to perform a batteryectomy on dying phone!

TIL that both frogs and lizards will sometimes — very occasionally — allow you to save their lives by lifting them out of the pool, without making the slightest effort to escape from the net and jump back in the water. (I guess they must have been very tired.)

TIL people in Maine are called Downeasters because it’s downwind and east sailing from Boston. It’s also why they “ship up” to Boston.

TIL that not only can you smell the mountain fires, you can also taste them! It’s not a pleasant taste, either!

TIL Nils Bohlin, he may have saved more lives globally than anyone who hasn’t cured a disease. He invented the first three-point seatbelt, which was sold in a Volvo PV544 in 1959.

I’ve never seen this either! Amazing! Teared me up, too! I love it when we suddenly just become fellow humans.

I must have heard this song because I thought all her music was just noise
TIL in 2014, due to a glitch in the Canadian version of iTunes, a Taylor Swift song titled “Track 3” was released and immediately shot to the top of the charts. Fans who downloaded the song had purchased eight seconds of static noise for $1.29.

I remember that 2005 was an active season that required the use of the Greek alphabet as is occurring again. Do you know @upant if the National Hurricane Center adds on to each Greek alphabet the year’s designation to make each one distinct. I’ve searched for the answer but haven’t found it. Since the Greek alphabet stays the same I would think something like that would be necessary such as Alpha '05 and Alpha '20. Haven’t seen anything about it yet. Today I’d like to learn! Trivial but so gratifying to know.
