Football is all about money. Most teams would sign a serial killer if they thought they could win and make money with him playing. The fact that no team in the entire league is willing to sign Tebow speaks volumes about his ability to adapt to NFL football.

I would trust that these coaches and scouts have a much deeper insight into “talent” for the NFL then all the couch potato fans, not that its bad being a couch potato fan! 👍
Yes $$$
When Tebow was signed, his jersey was the #1 seller. When in the middle of his five game win streak in Denver stubhub was selling tickets for 400 dollar bad seats.

Most owners do not face the luxury of being a serious contender every year. Do you really think Jacksonville made more money without Tebow!?

Actually from an owner position it is a dream. Here is a guy who win or lose will sell merchandise and fill seats and rake in tv ratings with no requirement that you win.

It has way more to do with blacklisting than people recognize.

I don’t really think his faith has to do whether he is hired or not. Football teams appear to be pretty amoral as long as the guy can help the team win.

I always thought he should go into coaching. His reputation as a leader and character builder, what they call the “intangables” is through the roof. When he won in Denver it was the motivation the team had with him in, not really his skills, which got the wins.

As far as the European leagues $200,000, the NFL 3rd year minimum, for bench warmers, is $645,000.

I will say this. It doesn’t look good for timmy. Last year was a horrible year in the draft for QBs and this year is QB heavy. Honestly I don’t think he will get another shot. And as a football fan, I am sorry. It is fascinating to watch him play. His football, leadership, and sheer luck are some of the most exciting moments in the NFL.

The only way I see him getting any shot at all is if a team midseason loses a QB and is a mediocre team that is in playoff contention but has won too many games to improve their draft position. There is no way Dallas would have done that to Romo. But another team in a similar situation might. A team called Favre just this year to come play. Dallas signed a 41 year old kitna for a game. A team like San Diego, with an aging Rivers…

And on a football note. It is quite possible that Tim Tebow came along at the wrong time in the game. We may see in the future a Tebow like player do quite well in the NFL.

I would love him to coach. But the problem is that he has the reputation for being a tad slow on the uptake for offensive schemes. I blame the homeschool;)😃 That being said, I think a college would be less likely to hire to coach than an NFL team would be to play.
Maybe TCU? Southern Methodist? But, most state schools, or even religious schools would never hire someone that outspoken and evangelical. Can you imagine Tebow at BYU? Notre Dame? or Cal? Look at who Louisville just hired!?

And I don’t think he could be more than a positions coach in the NFL. As many seem to believe he cannot even play QB what exactly would he coach? So that leaves high school…

I thought too of the skill level issue, but just because you can play, doesn’t mean you can coach. Mike Singletary was one of the greatest defensemen who ever played, but what made him so good as a player (his incredible drive and ruthless self critique) works against him as a coach.

That’s why I think Tim could work well. He has the leadership aspect.

But he does not have the Xs and Os down. few do. It takes a special mind and knowledge to coach. So little of a coaches time is “leadership rah rah in the locker room at half time” but mostly is spent in a film room with a pencil and paper. Calling plays and practice practice practice. On the field he is an amazing leader, but off the field that might translate to a glorified cheerleader or a motivational speaker in a van down by the river.

I would love to see him coach, but an environment that runs from him like he is the plague is probably not going to hand him the keys.

With the one exception of Florida. Or possibly ohio state with Urban. Tim as a QB coach at Ohio State actually sounds good as I type it. Urban would definately take Tim on and Ohio State Hired Urban almost exclusively because they needed a squeaky clean staff after the scandal. Tim would add to that image they are trying to build.

Im sure the current QB coach has something to say about that though.

In the NFL? Belichick Might… Might Might just let him get Josh McDaniels Coffee.

What should Tebow do?

I think the ESPN thing is good. IF he does well and does not “offend” the religion of the media, he might soften his image as a lightning rod. Menawhile, if he still wants to pursue his dream of NFL Qb. Good on him! And if he doesn’t want to beat up his body for some italian league that is fine too. Meanwhile, he could travel as a speaker on leadership and morality and faith to football playing youth. Heck, down south he might make more money doing that than any NFL player!!!

It now looks as if Tim Tebow was a kind of male Anna Kournikova …

Last month, an Italian team offered him a $200,000 contract to play as quarterback from March to July. Granted, their stadium only seats 8,000 and its the largest in the league. But he could complete a season there before the US season begins.
Interestingly the new Redskins coach spent years playing for the other football leagues. Doesn’t seem to have hurt his career any. 🤷

Is there a current starting QB in the NFL that played in a foreign league?

I’d be interested to find that out.
Canada, europe, that is where aspiring NFL players go to die…

One of my good friends played arena ball for 3 years and then played in the NFL but that was quite the accomplishment. Sometimes NFL teams will use arena leagues as a stop gap for an injured player but these arena and foreign leagues are nothing like a “farm system”

I am not a big football fan. I just never understood the sport and find it boring. I think all professional sports are all about money and the salaries these players receive - for example, peyton manning, is obscene.

I hope this will work out for tim tebow. I have felt sorry for the way he has been treated for proclaiming his faith. I don’t know how old he is, but he was the media darling for awhile and then ridiculed. he had a lot of attention come his way and I am sure it was difficult to know how to deal with it.

since I am not a football fan, I cannot judge what type of player he is or was. he seemed to have done well while with the broncos and I don’t think they appreciated what he did for the team.

I wish him the best! 🙂 and I hope the broncos lose if they go to the super bowl! 😃
