I’m not 4square, but I am Pentecostal. I believe that there are many children born to Pentecostal parents who dedicated their children to Christ. As their children grew, the parents taught them about Christ and took them to church regularly. Eventually, those children put their trust and faith in Christ, were baptized and grew up to be God-fearing Christ-loving Pentecostals.
I also know of Pentecostal parents who dedicated their children to Christ. As their children grew, these parents did not take them to church regularly and did not teach them about God. Eventually, as a coming of age thing, these parents brought their pre-teen kids to church long enough to so they could be baptized and take part in some youth group activities. Then they stop coming to church, and their kids only come back on Christmas, Easter, weddings and funerals. These children are said to be “Pentecostal” but are they really? They have only the most tenuous connection to their church. They need to be evangelized. They need to be converted.
I think there are many Catholic families like the first type of Pentecostal. I also believe there are many Catholic families like the second type of Pentecostal family. The facts are somewhat different, but the pattern is the same.
