He’s saying that while tolerance seems to.be promoted.elsewhere, there’s no.tolerance from the schools on this.controversial topic.

And should this man be allowed to be allowed to surgically alter himself to be parrotlike or have therapy to help him embrace his humaness?

He is happy. I am in no way taking that away from him.

Controversial? I never knew acceptance was controversial.

Does acceptance in your case mean condone what the person is doing and everyone sings “Kumbaya?” Cause from what I have seen researching your posts, you seem to equate that with condoning the person’s act. Just know that you’re gonna have to answer to God for that.

I’m surprised HuffPo classified the story as “Weird News.” Isn’t that a little judgmental of them?

@NM505StKate - this society’s new dictum that subjective “happiness” is the measure of everything including morality is misguided at best, and in many cases dangerous.

So just be clear, you see nothing wrong with lopping of your ears to look like a parrot? Nothing? I really don’t know what to say to that.

To me it is no different then lopping off the foreskin because of reasons. He is an adult and can make his own decisions.

So accepting that someone is different is bad? That tolerance of someone despite them not looking like you or acting like you is wrong? Seeing that gender is fluid and not binary it is quite cool that the youth are taught this. It shouldn’t be repressed like in the days of old.
By all means, lets educate our children to the difficulties that many people face. But to elevate personal feelings and experiences (which is not to diminish their reality in the mind of the individual) to the same level as physical facts, when those experiences are at ODDS with those physical Facts, is without a sound basis.

I have no difficulty with labeling/naming various “gender experiences”, but they are a different category to the one that includes Male & Female.

More than two genders. It isn’t as black and white as one may think.

Yeah I will stick by things are not as black and white as many think. Gender and sex are fluid.

Kate, I can see you’re emtrenched with your secular logic in favor of it, but as you note yourself a Catholic, how can you reconcile your position with yiur faith? What makes you stick with Catholicism? (I ask so that we might get some foundations laid down for the religious argument.)

I question my faith and do my best, which fails at times, to see both sides. So far I am seeing more proof from one side. 🙂

If your faith, made by God, seems to be the weaker side then I’d ask what’s causing the doubts you have as to whether or not it’s right. Would you not argue that what God says is greater than what man says? So which parts from Church teaching are you doubting that cause you to side with the secular? As someone who has held opinions contrary to Church teaching I understand why the secular argument can seem stronger, but I also believe that gaining a better understand of why the Church teaches what it does and why it has the authority to do so negates the doubts one has. So what parts of Church teaching are you having trouble accepting that lead you to side with the secular argument?

Yes, that tends to happen when one side has a corrupt monopoly on academia, news, entertainment and culture.

To be completely honest I don’t know a single Catholic teaching. I don’t remember being taught any in Catholic school. I doubt due to various news stories and other things that are fishy. Also I trust in facts and the secular side has more in facts than the Christian side.

Catholicism has and always will be based on natural law. The regressive movement in the Western world cannot hold its center and is not the special, progressive, unique never-before-encountered snowflake it purports to be. All they have done is repackage the same arguments amidst a neat little recipe of feeling good in front of friends, calling noble while the entire time advancing both their own stature (so they think) and an agenda.

If people really take the time to examine the arguments beyond the moping of “I want to feel for other people” or “there was a study that came out from people with post-graduate degrees, therefore it’s correct” and other such lame excuses and selfishness that nobody buys into anymore.
