One point: You receive the Body and Blood, you do not take it. It is a grace from God that is intended to be received. The Ordinary (Priest) may licitly use intinction, but the laity is prevented. Thus, the one who confects the Eucharist may use intinction, but others may not.
Let’s think about the reception of the Eucharist as imitation of the Last Supper. Christ handed His Body over to the disciples just as He allowed Himself to be handed over to evil men. He then handed the cup to them (“Take this all of you…”) and they drank from it This is the manner in which His Blood is to be received - the communal cup.
If you are uneasy receiving directly from the cup for whatever reason, do not receive the Blood. You receive the full Sacrament under either specie. You may certainly receive both, but separately, under the norms specified in the GIRM. The EMHC is trained to use the purificator to purify the rim of the cup. Additionally, I rotate the cup so that each recipient receives from a purified portion of the rim.
A Blessed Holy Week and Christ’s peace to all.
