I also submited another thread about tips for praying the rosary but in this one, I’d like to ask for some suggestions for personal prayers.

I’ve taken 3 times the Prayer and Life workshops of Father Ignacio Larrañaga and I go to a monthly “dessert” retreat (it’s like a short silent retreat). This has helped me in my personal prayer but, I’ve found that doing the interior silencing is sometimes difficult/exasperating for me.

Sometimes I fall asleep while silencing my mind, because I relax too much, so then I’m sleepy when I actually start any of the prayer modalities.

I also practice lectio divina quite frequently. I try to do it every day but I still long for a deeper prayer time with the Lord. Going to visit the Holy Sacrament can also be quite challenging sometimes. I try to go at least once a week because I live in El Salvador and I can only get there by bus and the security situation here isn’t so great. But I do try to go there as much as I can.

Any tips for having a much deeper prayer? I really do miss having an intimate moment with the Lord. I appreciate any advice you can give me :). God bless!

Try praying with a prayer group or cenicle.

It sounds to me as if you already have a deep prayer life.Just keep up all these devotions.Sometimes God withdraws those prayer consolations in order to bring you closer to Him.

I have a problem when having a conversation with the Lord. I’ve heard some priests advice that you be silent at times when praying, and not make everything about you, give God the space to “speak” to you in silence, wich is very hard.

Any tips for this? Thank you! 🙂
