Oh! We had Theology on Tap too. Isn’t it great? I will pray for this new friendship of yours. :hug1: :gopray:

I never liked online dating much either. :o
Sfar, I’m enjoying ToT. And thanks! :hug3:

And I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t like online dating! 😃

I hear ya about the babies. Just this past Sunday I noticed about 5 or so newborns, babies, toddlers. All super cute…all making me wish I was married and was a mommy. 😦 You and your hubby are in my thoughts and prayers. :gopray:

Babies are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute! 😃 I can always make my friend’s babies stop crying, they call me the “Baby Whisperer”. And they were sad when I moved 5 hours away. 🙂

You should see me at church or at the supermarket! I’m horrible!! Actually, pretty much any time I see a baby or toddler. :blushing:

Always trying to make the baby “say hi” or just smile at me. Yep, sometimes I even “flirt” with them LOL! :pshaw:

I just had a word of advice from the person from Seattle. I really feel your pain – there seem to be NO Catholics around there! My advice is to attend a different church. Blessed Sacrament, in the U district, is full of single Catholics because it’s around the university. The Newman Center is good too. And that way you don’t have to deal with seeing all the families around, making you feel sad.

I do pray for all you single people … it is a hard cross, especially as you grow older. Have you read this blog? seraphicsinglescummings.blogspot.com The author has also recently published a book about the single life for Catholics. She’s very encouraging to read, especially as someone who was single until she was 37 or 38.
I’m a little old to be hanging around college students (I’m 28), but it is a good idea. I’ve found a state less religious than my home state (Oregon). Even though I heard that Oregon has the lowest church attendance in the country (just a random fact I heard, but still interesting). I’m pretty much resigned that barring some random miracle, I will have to marry outside of the Church.

To the brothers and sisters who are considering leaving the Church - Satan is putting envy in your heart, when you are so full of jealousy that you cry to see a married couple, know that is Satan working to drive you away from Jesus and from His vocation for you.

Cling to Jesus. When you feel jealousy over a family, go up to that family and THANK THEN for their witness. Bash that envy right in the face.

I hope you were meaning that you would might choose to marry a protestant in the CATHOLIC church, with CATHOLIC pre-marital instructions, through a PRIEST. 😉 If you were then proceed. If not, see Kage’s post. 👍

BTW: I too felt this way. I never did meet a good Catholic boy who wasn’t already spoken for (either with another girl or considering the priesthood.) So I did marry a really good protestant Christian who shares all my beliefs on marriage, the marital embrace, children, prolife, and all. He even attends mass with me most Sundays. But, it has its very difficult moments too, so it’s something to go into only in prayer, and under the guidance of a good discerning priest to help you out. 👍

Oh Kage this is so me at times. I never have considered leaving the church but everything else applies to me. Just replace all the marrieds with babies. 😦 I do pray to God in thanksgiving for these families and pray they continue to be prolife. But oh it’s so very very hard. 😦

Personally, I wouldn’t mind a once-a-month dinner-and-movie get together or a bowling night. :yup:
I was attending another parish for a while and we had activities just about every weekend. We would go hiking, kayaking, or just go meet at a pub for a couple of hours. At the parish I attend now there isn’t anything. I’ve gone to church there practically my whole life and don’t know the name of one other person that attends. The difference between the two parishes comes down to the actions of about 1 or 2 people who put there talents to good use. Somebody has simply got to take the initiative to do something. It will not be me because I’m simply too busy but I hope somebody out there does something.

I agree:

“Out of the darkness of my life, so much frustrated, I put before you the one
great thing to love on earth: the Blessed Sacrament…There you will find
romance, glory, honor, fidelity, and the true way of all your loves upon earth,
…and demands the surrender of all, and yet by the taste of which alone
can what you seek in your earthly relationships (love, faithfulness, joy) be maintained,
or take on that complexion of reality, of eternal endurance, that
every man’s heart desires,”

For what it’s worth, when I see a couple in love, I say to myself, “Thank God all you cynical jerks are wrong. There IS such a thing as eternal, everlasting, and most importantly-deeply romantic-LOVE.”

I like seeing couples and families. It reminds me that in a world riddled with evil, there is still pure beauty just waiting to be found.

Cheer up everyone! You will ALL find love, and it’s gonna rock!

Maybe I’m too mean to be Catholic, lack of food (today my no eating day), or my diet pills that make me mean, but I always want to trip those sappy couples and watch them faceplant. It must be diet pills that make me cranky.

I do laugh when I fall, so it must be my weird sense of humor.

Could be. It takes all kinds.

I’m married, but I feel for all of you …

It might cheer you up to know that neither my husband nor I ever dated anyone before each other. It might seem now that “even a relationship that didn’t lead to marriage would at least be something,” but that’s not so. It would just mean that you had had your heart broken before meeting the person that was really for you.
I hope that’s what’s happened in my case, since I haven’t had a serious relationship. I’ve been on dates, and had several close friends who were guys, but no real boyfriends. I hope it just means that I’ve been spared.

Thanks for your prayers! I need them, we all do! 🙂

I’ll have to look into the blog for singles. Wow, being single until 37! Sometimes I start panicking because I’m 26 1/2 and I’m not married. Which I know is rediculous, for two reasons. 1 The average marriage age in the US is 27, and 2 The women in my family who are happily married tended to stay single into their 30’s, and then marry younger men. 😉 So I’m hardly an old maid.

As I just heard on a commercial, that and a dollar may get you a cup of coffee…

Let’s be realistic - it’s not jealousy…it’s hunger. We were not created to be alone. Remember, unless we are specifically called to one of the celibate vocations, our vocation IS marriage.

So, instead of the “tsk tsk who could it be…could it be…SATAN!” ala the SNL Church Lady, how about our fellow Catholics taking this as a WAKE UP CALL and taking the needs and pains of Catholic singles who can’t find compatible Catholic spouses more seriously (like the apostles established the diaconate to meet the needs of the Hellenic widows who were neglected in the distribution instead of “tsk tsk” nagging them that they were afflicted by jealousy that Satan was using to drive them from Jesus and their vocation). Remember what the Bible says:

“If a brother or sister has nothing to wear and no food for the day, and you say to them, ‘Good-bye and good luck! Keep warm and well fed’, but do not meet their bodily needs, what good is that?” (James 2:15-16)

Not true, unfortunately. Try being an unattractive, underemployed guy in his early 50s.

You are absolutely right. Sometimes you really need that 1-2 people to take iniative and get things going and then everyone else follows suit.

Same here. No serious relationships, just some dating, but I do have plenty of female friends who help me meet other single girls.

I’m almost 28 and single and I think my parents get a bit anxious for me to find a girl. Granted I definitely would like to find someone and get married down the road, I’m enjoying my life as it is now. I am not upset being single or troubled that many of my friends are in serious relationships or getting married. I can definitely see how being single can be lonely at times, but I have never been able to relate to the extreme feelings some people have (like crying after mass when seeing lots of happy couples, etc). There are so many meaningful things in life for one to do that being single for a period of time longer than you hoped for isn’t a terrible thing. Maybe you get married at age 32 instead of 25. Well in those 7 years you may have gained some valuable life experiences, done some great things, bettered yourself, etc. I’m sure when look back on this time after you are married you’ll realize that everything turned out for the better.

Everyone goes through life on different paths. Just because things happen one way for you or you make certain choices doesn’t mean you are doing things better or worse than anyone else. Just be the best person you can be and things will almost always work out for you (In my opinion).

God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love and a sound mind.

The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, meekness, goodness, temeperence, faith.

Yes, it is true. No matter how unattractive or unpleasant you might be (not calling you either one) you can find a mate.

Alot depends on attitude.
