Tired of no Confiteor and exclusive use of Apostle's Creed

I am so darned tired of him making the Mass as utilitarian as possible. The quicker and less solemn the better. Has anyone else experienced this since the change?

There are a plethora of reasons a PASTOR would do that, and I applaud him for the courage. [edited] NB the “mass” consist of various liturgies and your Pastor knows this.

I have been Catholic a year and I have only heard the Nicene Creed used at Mass once (and that was when Redemptorists were visiting).

Is it common in the states to use the Nicene Creed?

Yes, it is used solely in the TLM and predominately in the Ordinary form Mass.

The Confeteor is normally said in unison in the Ordinary form Mass; in the TLM it is said once by the celebrant, once by the altar boys and sometimes a second time by the altar boys before the communion rite for a total of at least twice and often three times.
 
Not only do we not say the Nicene creed nor the Confiteor our priests have used the Homily twice to publicly oppose the New Translation. They cite Vatican II interpreting that VII was about a sort of “democracy of the faithful” under the statement Sensus Fidelium. They also believe that because there’s something like 30 or 40 approved celebrations of the Mass that they can do what they want.

I personally think that because we are a Catholic church located in the predominately Protestant South, it’s their way to try to softly attract the anti-papists.

During a training session at my parish an older lady said “I thought we were past this!” with regard to saying “through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault” while striking our breasts. In response my pastor looked rather confused. That and the fact it shortens the Mass is why we will never hear the Confiteur again when he or the associate is the celebrant. That and the total loss of the Nicene Creed anger me.

He is making a mistake but don’t be angry. Anger in this kind of situation hardens his will to continue with what he is doing. It sounds like he is somewhat stubborn and is trying to prove a point. Don’t buy into that. Say the Nicene Creed to yourself. God will hear you. Believe me The Nicene Creed is not lost.
 
The old translation was very bland and boring and had now meaning compered to the new translation what is closer to the lain mass and some of the prayers are really beautiful

How old is your priest?

All of our priests are at least 70 years old and near death or retirement. Why do you ask?
 
Why not speak to your apstor about this. Maybe you could get a group of like minded people together. Remember, be respectful and try to present your feelings in a positive way.

Yes, but our faith has a Liturgy. Our faith also has a Vicar to lead us until Christ comes again. The Vicar wants us to use the New Translation for our Liturgy. What separates us from the Protestants is that we have a Church that “is the pillar and bulwark of the Truth.” Not just the Bible to be interpreted as we wish.

So we are to follow the Church and not always what we like.

Exactly! And that is why, in Her wisdom, the Church has allowed the priest different options, and in the end, it is only*** his ***opinion that matters, as long as he is exercising legitimate options, whether ***I like ***his choices or not. 😛
