I had an experience this morning that I wanted to share:

I haven’t been getting a lot of sleep lately (despite, really, a very comfy bed and many, many pillows - something about those late night bathroom trips and being kicked awake by a kid in utero :p). I do try to pray in the mornings and I find that really helps me throughout the day regardless of how tired I am. I have a book of devotions that I use a lot first thing in the morning and right before bed.

Anyway, this morning I got stuck while reading my book on the strangest word I had ever seen - “hurribly.” Now, I was an English major and I have a pretty good vocabulary. But this one was a head-scratcher. I re-read the sentence at least 10 times to see if there was a typo. This book isn’t known for using slang, but maybe an attempt to combine “hurry” and “horrible?”

Finally, after five minutes of trying to figure it out, it hit me - the word I was reading was “humbly.” I hadn’t separated the letters properly. :doh2:

I’m sure a lot of us have dealt with “tired think” every once in a while, frequently to humorous effect. Anyone else have fun stories to share?

Very funny!

Sounds like a tigger word from winnie the pooh–hurribly.🙂

Good story!

My “tired think” moments are more things I do. Such as coming off of an aircraft bleary eyed and exhausted and going into the “Ladies room” first wondering why it had urinals and second to wonder why there was a very embarrassed man standing at one of the urinals, at which point the “Aha” moment hit my sleep-deprived brain and I did an about face and left the Men’s room.

I was so sleep-deprived, I once put a clean diaper on my son – over the dirty one.

I was once so tired that I stepped out in front of the bus I wanted to catch, and tried to stop it with my hand.

It took them four days to put me back together again.

And I still work late at night, and get up early in the morning - but I will never again work for 36 hours straight.

I find that I become dyslexic when I’m over-tired, and I lose my ability to speak.

This week, I was returning a shaver I had bought for the hubs that we were not satisfied with. I asked the Church custodian if I could borrow his roll of packing tape to secure the package.
At which point he said “You’ve got to get a Bra On!”
I said WHAT???
Repeated: You’ve got to get a Bra On!
I freaked out. I’m thinking, OH GOSH, Wardrobe malfunction!!!

I said Why do you think I’m not wearing a bra???

He was aghast! "It’s a brand of shaver! Bra On. "

He’s from UCLA = Upper corner of lower Alabama. He meant BRAUN.

How embarrassing. 😊 But the staff laughed sooooo hard…😃

Laughing so hard at your story and everyone else’s. Thanks so much for brightening my day! I confess I can’t think of one right now despite the fact I often have late nights, but if I do get to think of one, I’ll post it here 🙂 😛

:rotfl: ! I always use a baby wipe (although this time I make my own disposables) that I always put over my son’s parts (he his a good shooter) while I clean his butt or just change the diaper. But once, I went to change him and when I opened the diaper, I noticed that I left a baby wipe inside. 😃

One day, I was so sleep-depraved or maybe absent-minded (more likely) that I was cracking and opening eggs to make scrambled eggs. I cracked the eggs on a corner of the kitchen sink, and opened one on a plate and threw the eggshell in the already open trash bin, and then the second and third egg too. But for the fourth egg, I cracked it like normal, but opened it on the trash bin as if it was there were I was going to beat the eggs. I laughed it off and opened another one.

Oooo, I’ve done that, too! 😃

AKDee’s story reminded me of the sadly multiple times I have confusedly tried to open a door and get really mad because it was apparently locked or broken, but actually it was just that I was pulling instead of pushing (or vice versa.)
