And all through my house everything is stirring.

I had to take Debbie’s new ride to the dealer to fix the passenger seat (won’t slide). So I called my beloved niece for a ride.

“look here I need ya to follow me to the Honda dealer to put D’s car in the shop, and then take me back when it’s fixed.”

“I was just about to call YOU. I noticed I don’t have anything in Joseph’s stocking, what do you suggest”

“we’ll go by CVS and get some gummi bears, Dots, Milk Duds, and stuff like that.”

“Think so?”

“Oh yeah thats what D puts in mine, highlight of the holiday”

First thing we had to do was go by D’s office and swap rides out. I had to leave her the “silver bullet” (our 92 Nissan Sentra.) Somehow it still runs, ticking valves and all. A ride I inherited from my mother. I prefer my motorcycles. I don’t how, but this car just wont quit. A bunch of stuff is leaking and ticking but the sum of the parts is greater then anyone thing. The AC quit long time ago, as did the speed-a-meter, (I know its a speedometer Juggles, but thats what I call it). Only one window works, and I lost the gas cap.

My appt was at 930. Folks, that place was like a Doctors office. A fancy waiting room with a big LCD screen and ladies coming out calling ya back when they find out what’s wrong with ya ride. “Mr. Williams? Come with me please.” And you go back and hear. “I’m sorry to tell you this but your transmission has a fatal condition, and you’re out of warranty.”

I told this lady at a big desk. “Look here, I see this is set up like doctors office, so does this mean my appt is at 930 but nobody is gonna look at my ride till 12? I mean this car only has 600 miles on it, I just bought it.”

“Oh no sir, someone will get right on it” And they did. The docs can learn something from these folks.

So I got in the car with Megan. “Here baby, better lemme drive.”

"you don’t think I can drive?’

“No”

So we’re going down the road.

"Guy! Guy! Lets eat at Subway!

“I ate there yesterday baby”

"😦 "

She can poke her lip out better then any 2 year old. “Ok, Ok, I’ll get the meatball sandwich today. Sheesh you use me up so bad.”

“Yipppppppeeee”

So when get in a short line. The guy right in front of us is a good ole boy, in a heating and ac repairman uniform, and he orders up-

“Thats right gimme a foot long, ok now put double meat on there”

“bacon?”

“oh yeah.” She put 2 slices on.

“Oh nooooooooooo put more then that. I really like bacon” She put 2 more. “Really pile it on I’ll tell ya when. I reallllly like bacon.” So heck she puts about 15 on there, before he says, “thats good.”

Then he looked around and told everybody again. “I reaaaaaaaaalyyy like bacon, I mean I really like it.”

So they slide his sandwich down, and he says, “Yeah put alooot of olives on there too. A whooole lot of olives, might as put some extra turkey on to, but I really like bacon.”

I made sure to keep little Megan near me so they don’t try to put her on next.

I mean this sandwich was HUGE. The girl couldn’t close it, musta weighed 10 lbs. They had to double wrap it. LOL…

He was laughing at the register when he looked around the place, and said “I realllly like bacon.” He was giddy and in a good mood, with the Holidays coming up and all, and with his sandwich.

I told Meggie, “watch this”

The girl rung it up, “That’ll be 27.50”

!!!

I almost fell back. Everyone in line was laughing.

The good ole boy didn’t say another word, just took his sandwich and left. Not another word. He went from gushing to lockjaw, as if you pulled a switch.

“Joseph told me y’all are ridin around lookin at lights tonight”

“Thats right”

“I wanna go”

“Now baby, this is just us (me, brother and our sons) just the 4 of us. Tradition. We usually go eat then look at the lights.”

“How come the girls don’t get to go?”

“If you go then Chris girlfriend will wanna go”

She stuck her bottom lip out again. “Poutin ain’t gonna work this time.”

“look it, Stacey is coming home with Chris just go over to the house and D will take y’all out to eat, and maybe even take y’all on your own light ride.”

“Yeah!!!”

We went by CVS and Meggie got stuff for J’s stocking, about 10 dollars worth of stuff. “Dang he’s gonna have a awesome stocking”

So later on I was back at the house. D called me.

“Didja get the car in the shop?”

“yeah Chris will be here soon, get him to take me to retieve it.”

“What was wrong with it?”

“A nickle was in the track”

“dang”

“What I say. Look here, the girls are coming over tonight, while we look at lights. Meggie ain’t got the understanding this is a guy thing. Ride them around.”

“Ok but I got stuff to do here first to get ready for tomorrow night. They can help me, I do have to go to wal mart though. I’ll take them with me.”

“That’ll be good. I’m gonna dog Stacey for being the only Baptist in the bunch LOL”

“No you’re not. We don’t know her well enough”

“well ok, but maybe oneday, we never know how long one is gonna be around.”

“Well he’s YOUR son, I just carried him”

So tonight I’m riding around lookin at lights. The tackier the better.

I’m thinking bacon-man may have had the munchies and wasn’t just high on holiday cheer:p:D
**
Merry Christmas to you and your whole big happy family Guy!**

Huh- all of a sudden I’ve got the strangest craving for bacon. Can’t imagine where that would have come from. 😉

Heard today that it is Christmas Adam today, you know, tomorrow is Christmas Eve and Adam came before Eve :rotfl:

(yes, I like very juvenile jokes).

Ah… reading your posts makes me wish I had family close by. Sounds like your family is awesome:thumbsup:

I hear you about subway two days in a row, if I eat another fast food meal this week I will turn into a meatball. just came home and made tacos from meat I HAVE to cook today, and all the veggies in the drawer, and a jar of Pace, and a dab of refried beans, they are very, um, interesting but non-traditional tacos, but loaded up with lettuce, cheese and avocado, pretty dang good on a cold night.

is there a name for the condition of your finger and thumb after wrapping and taping 200 gifts?

I congratulate myself on doing all our gift shopping on line or sending checks, parishioners donated over 300 wrapped and labelled gifts for children from the giving tree, plus 100 from Legion of Mary, and over 200 from the school children. All came wrapped and tagged by gender and age. Great. and all were here by the due date, Sunday. wonderful

parishioners have been dropping off more gifts the last two days, most unwrapped, but we did those last night, at least 100.
Fire department stopped by and brought over 100 more unwrapped toys this morning. Staff and anybody that happened to drop by the parish office wrapped those. Then somebody brought a carload of coloring books, crayons, small stuff. We wrapped some more, got done about 5. Left late because they are still printing the bulletin for Sunday, since we will be closed all week. Somebody from the courthouse stopped as I was getting in my car, said they had a few gifts leftover from their toy drive, I said sure, bring them in.

4 huge cardboard boxes full of unwrapped toys, the kind of boxes you use to move your wardrobe, about chest high, to heavy to lift. The took them in the parish center for me. guess it means another stop at the dollar store in the morning for wrapping paper and tape.

there were 640 gifts as of 5 pm last night, there are easily 800 there now, but I stopped counting. and at least 100 have been given away already. Printed and gave out 750 tickets for Christmas dinner for the needy, and promised each child will get a gift. We served over 800 for Thanksgiving, are planning for 900 this go-round.

I at least get to come home and collapse with a taco. DH is out delivering furniture and appliances that have been donated for the poor, and taking the brisket to those who will do the cooking. My secretary now has to go to Sams and the mall to finish shopping for her family, and will be up all night wrapping more gifts.

I’m with you on the no more fast food. And I had tacos tonight as well. We got home wiped out and that was what fell out of the fridge. Spent all afternoon on the road from central Wisconsin. Took the children swimming down at Wisconsin Dells, not such lovely weather for a four hour drive this time of year. But they had fun and get to spend a few whole uninterrupted days with Mom and Dad.

Now they seem to preparing a stage production. Saturday night we got a Nativity play but this seems promises to be something different: eldest daughter (9) has put on some choral christmas music, but there is a character with a clock face as a mask. The curtain goes up when mom returns from some last-minute shopping

According to my ICD-9 coding book, it is officially Christmas Carpel Tunnel syndrome (Ok, just kidding)😃

You get major points for the good work, though. :tiphat: :tiphat:

BaconBaconBaconBaconBaconBaconBaconBaconBaconBaconBaconBaconBacon…

(the word starts to look funny after a while…)

forgot why I started to talk about tacos, which was that I put some bacon bits on top, just to use up the jar. that stuff is addicting.

You will never think about hand dryers in public restrooms the same way ever again…

oh I love bacon too but I eat it in a wierd way, I cut off the white fatty pieces and just eat the dark red crispy pieces LOL Thinking of eating the chewy pieces gives me the chills 😃

Well folks, its after 1am here as I type this. I have the worst case of heart burn ever was. So bad it woke me up, I never get heartburn, so I don’t have anything to take. I didn’t eat anything spicey tonight at supper ( I didn’t think). Now I can’t sleep.

Brenda V wanted to know how our light ride went. It was fun. #1 son got off work early, picked up his gf and made it home by 4 pm. He lives about 90 minutes away. At 28 he loves Christmas more than any little kid I know. He is down to serve at Midnight Mass.

We packed up in D’s new Honda and went over to pick up Joseph and my brother at J’s house. My brother lives about 30 minutes away. He was annulled 23 years ago, and never remarried, but that’s a whole nother thread.

Meggie was with her mother and we left D and Stacey at the house unloading groceries. I think D wanted us out of the house so she could get something done.

Our first stop was something to eat. “Lets do Longhorn, in the mood for a steak, we only do this once a year so lets do it right.”

J and Chris are cousins but more like brothers, since they are both only child. I tell both of them, “make lots of babies, just make sure you get us a little girl.” J told my son to hurry and get married to get some of the pressure of him. LOL.

All 4 of us had T bones! Our waitress could not do enough for us. She was a young single mother trying to make it on a part time job. My brother told us, “whatever the bill is, will be the tip, we’re blessed in this life.” “Agreed, Chris and I will handle the tip, y’all take the tab.”

Megan called J twice while we eating. LOL. She couldn’t stand it. Stacey called Chris once. “Meagan is jumping up and down, and wants to come up here. Her mother told her she doesn’t understand 4 grown men going to look at lights.” “She just told Meggie that to get her riled up,” said my brother. I told J, “Meggie is afraid she’s gonna miss something, she knows hanging out with us is ALOT more fun then shopping with her mother.”

I asked Chris, “what did stacey want?” “Just wanted to know what we were doin.” “Look I told Meggie today she was gonna be sitting this one out, she had lip poked out so bad I called her Poochie the rest of the afternoon.”

“She *can *poke her lip out.”

“What do ya do when she does that” Chris asked as he passed the bread.

“I take my finger and try to poke it back in, but it pops back out”

“ROFL”

"I mean, I never seen anything like it. Look she’s only 22, I have to look out for her since I married her. (J is close to 26)

“yeah but I dunno about callin her poochie. Just tell her to go over and hook up with D and Stacey.”

So the young lady brought the check. Chris and I got up the cash for the tip. “Here’s the cash for the tip, take it and just put it on your card and bring it down” I told my brother.

So she came to pick up the tab and whisked it away, she came back a minute later, and told my brother, “sir you brought the total for the bill down in the wrong line.” “No we didn’t baby,” I said, “you have a nice Christmas.” I thought she was gonna cry.

We were walking back out to the car and my son said. “That felt good.” I told both boys, “Everytime I do something like that, I always get it back in some kind of way. Just wait and see, you’ll know what I’m talking about.”

So we left Longhorn and proceeded to ride around and look at lights. Going as far as to the next city over. We were gone over 2 hours. We’ve doing it for years, so we knew where all the tacky houses were.

My dad use to ride us around every Christmas when we were little. It was cheap entertainment. We could never stop to eat steak though, and we told our sons that. They like to hear stories about growing in Va in the 60s. J always asks me “how many times did y’all eat out in your career in Va.?” And I tell him the same answer everytime. “I lived there the first 11 years of my life, and I ate out more this *week *then the entire time in Va.”

I was about to ride all Debbie’s gas out, so we had to stop and put some in. It was 1.45 a gallon. I filled it up for *19 *dollars. “Looky here boys, enjoy it while you can.”

I reminded J about the plan to swap out the falke box with the real thing tomorrow. “She still has no clue?” “Nooooo as far as she’sconcerned she’s getting a Tammy Faye ring.” “Man that’s gonna be soooooo funny, whaya think she’s gonna do?” “I dunno, it could either way, she could beat me down, cry, or go off.”

“You think she told her mom she’s gettin a tammy faye ring?”

“50-50 Maybe, maybe not.”

We didn’t drop them off till after 10 pm.

Now I’m sitting here with my chest on fire. It seems to feel better if I sit up. Tomorrow I’m gonna get some pepcid or something but right now I need :stretcher:

Sorry you’re not feeling well! But that sure is sweet, what you guys did for the waitress. 👍 :clapping:

Guy, the next time, if ever, you get heartburn like that and don’t have anything in the house, go get the box of baking soda. On the side of the box you will see directions for making a concoction to relieve your heartburn. This is an old home remedy and works very well and is fine for occasional use. It is also very cheap.

But I do believe the cause of your heartburn is the stress of hiding that ring and the anticipation of pulling one over on your neice:D I am sure every pang will be worth it.🙂

I prefer my bacon nearly burnt so the chewy pieces are no longer chewy. If not, I pull off the meat parts and leave the fat. It creeps me out, too.

I think the weird bacon guy in the OP needs Bacon Salt. Shoot, I should have bought a jar of this and wrapped it for DH’s gag gift.

I thought it was all the fast food and then steak on top of it that caused the heartburn but you may be right!

Well, the stress will soon be over.

Thanks Guy for sharing your night out with the guys :D.

I really liked what you did for that Waitress.

Oh, and the baking soda does work for that occasional bought of heartburn (comes in a small box and found near the baking supplies - used to be the only brand was Arm & Hammer, now you can get store brands too). BTW, spicy foods do not give me heartburn, wheat in any quantities as will too much fat. You had a lot of wheat in the last two days - just in having two subway 6" sandwiches (minus any bacon and just hearing about all that bacon that bacon man wanted made me nauseous - maybe I’m pregnant :rotfl:inside joke)
