Please pray for the success of the Mass and a high turnout! If you can attend, please do attend.

In Jesus and Mary,

Now that we’ve gotten all the posturing out of our systems, can we talk about the TLM please? I for one think it’s nice that there is one in the Diocese of Joliet.
Well, the city and acrhdiocese of Chicago is a pretty good place for the TLM! 😉

How long do these masses usually run? I am trying to find a nice place for dinner out there to justify the trip to my BF. He’s Catholic, but not really a “CA” style Catholic.

Mass was great tonight!!! I was to be the cross-bearer, however the cassock that was supplied to me was too long, so I wasn’t able to do it. It didn’t bother me, I was just so happy to be at the Mass! Fr. Hellmann gives, by far, the best homilies. It’s a good thing the Institue shrine is not far from Romeoville, I can go every Sunday.

It certainly was. My BF, who starts fidgeting after 45 mins, was shocked when we got to the car and it was 1 1/2 hrs. I was wondering if you were the cross bearer. I’m glad I didn’t try to introduce myself now!

Where is the Institute shrine? I’m in Joliet.

What’s an Abbe?

I wouldn’t call that a homily - I would call that a good old-fashioned sermon! How rare it is to hear of sin, hell, penance, reparations in a Mass.

There was so much I didn’t get - my mother gave me her missal from the 50s, and I wish I had brought it. While not up to date, it would have helped.

That was a lovely church too!

I think Abbe means Fr. I do know it’s derived from French. Not only are his sermons good, but listen to him in the confessional. Now that’s what I want every time!

From Lewis University, I just go up Independence Rd. (Rte. 53) and keep going. 53 turns left, but the road keeps going, and it’s called Joliet Rd. Take that to 55 and get onto the Dan Ryan heading south. Get off at the 63rd street exit. Take a left and follow until you reach Woodlawn Ave. Take a right and keep going for about quarter of a mile. The church will be on your left. I usually park on the street next to the church (I don’t have a Chicago parking permit, but I figure on Sunday mornings the cops don’t pay attention) The Mass is held in the basement. You walk in front of the Church and there’s an alley. Go down that alley and there will be signs pointing you to steps that go down. Congrats, you’re there! Low Mass is at 8, High Mass at 10. They have missals in the pouches behind each seat. Latin on one side, English on the other. Very easy to follow. Hope to see you there!
