ADVENT SOLEMN MASS OF OUR LADY (EXTRADORDINARY FORM)

LIVE 2:00 Celebration of the Advent Solemn Mass of Our Lady by Candlelight (The “Rorate” Mass) from the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama.

Hopefully EWTN starts broadcasting more of these. 🙂

Let us hope so. That is the birthday of a very near and dear friend of mine who is a traditionalist. That will be the greatest birthday present in the world for him. God is great!!!

Be sure to watch The World Over on Friday (the day before the TLM) as well.

This one happens to be on a Saturday, which means I’m off work and I can go. However, I’m not sure I will; I’ve been to some long services in the Shrine’s main church, and the pews there absolutely kill my back. I could go and offer it up, or I could pre-medicate, but that kind of pain really distracts me from the worship experience.

As I understand it, Fr. Berg (IRRC again) will be on and will discuss several issues of recent importance; e.g. the Motu Proprio once again and the training the FSSP priests are giving to the diocesean priests wishing to learn the TLM.

YES! I cant wait!

I’m going to try to go…my question…is it open to the public?

Yes, let’s meet up!

Dave, I can understand that it might be painful for you, those pews are rather squared off, not very comfortable.

**EWTN to Air Tridentine Mass for Advent **
Code:
Irondale, AL (EWTN) - EWTN Global Catholic Network will air a Solemn High Tridentine Mass, live from the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville, Alabama on Saturday, December 15, at 8 AM ET .
Known as the Rorate Mass, the liturgy will be celebrated by clergy of the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP). The Rorate Mass, so called because it begins with the words, “Rorate caeli desuper et nubes pluant iustum…” (“Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down upon the Just One…”), is a votive Mass offered within the season of Advent in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Celebrated by candlelight and traditionally held before dawn, this beautiful liturgy is esteemed particularly as part of the patrimony of the German-speaking peoples. Very Rev. Fr. John Berg, FSSP, the Superior General of the Priestly Fraternity, will travel from the community’s headquarters in Switzerland and will serve both as the celebrant and preacher. Priests and seminarians from Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary, the FSSP’s international seminary in North America, will also travel to Alabama to assist.

Pilgrim groups are invited to attend this public Mass, to be offered in the extraordinary form, and should visit the Shrine’s webpage (www.olamshrine.com) for information on accommodation options.

You can watch the Mass over their website correct? I’ll be doing that unless there is an EWTN Mass Party :o

Boy, I’d lone to have EWTN TV or something else than dial-up!
Check a public library and bring some headphones. Many public libraries offer free high speed internet access, though the amount of time online is often limited to an hour or so. Just a suggestion. 🤷

Okay, this is what you can do with Dial Up… I think that I did it before I got wireless internet…go to EWTN web site, tab Radio, tab Listen Live, and I think English…I believe dial up will handle listening to radio.

Awesome! I’m definitely going to be watching this on TV! This is especially interesting to me too because the priests at my parish are also from FSSP.

Since I’m not a Latin Guy, could someone please tell me if this is exactly the same as the 1962 Missal or is it different?
