Hmm. I always understood that the Institute was granted these churches in a way similar to religious…i.e, that there was autonomy for them, and they could not be replaced by the bishop so readily. Of course, the letter does no go into specifics, but it does make me think, at the very least. I attend at an institute Oratory in St. Louis, and have become quite fond of the Canons and their brand of spiritual insight in homilies.
