Make sure you’re talking about the same issue. The issue is not posture during reception of Communion, it’s about posture after reception of Communion. We are free to sit, kneel, or stand, apparently.

In fact, the letter whose link I posted refers to the posture after reception of Holy Communion. The quotes from Cardinal Arinze’s Q and A session also address the posture after reception of Holy Communion.

There is when you de-stress (or remove) an actual sign of unity and over-stress (or add) a perceived sign of unity. For example, when, at a small Mass, the priest tells the congregation to come up around the altar for the Liturgy of the Eucharist, and to stand there, and then hold hands during the Our Father, etc. in the name of “community” and “unity”; as if the people who would prefer to follow the discipline of the Church by remaining at their pews are harming the sense of unity, or who kneel during the EP, or who prefer not to hold hands during the Our Father.There is NEVER anything bogus in stressing unity.

Sounds like the struggles I have been having at my parish. I took it up with my pastor . . . spoke to him for about an hour and a half. It was no use. I would love to leave and find another parish, but three things stand in the way - 1) my children go to the parish school and I don’t want to uproot them . . . I haven’t had any problems with the school; 2) my wife would not attend Mass if we went to a more traditional Church; and 3) I wonder if God is calling me to be at this parish for a reason.
After I complained to my wife for years about not having kneelers, she turned to me and said, “no one’s stopping you from kneeling!” She was right. So I started kneeling after communion two years ago. In January this year, I found out we are supposed to be kneeling from the Holy Holy Holy to the Great Amen . . . so I started doing that then. I feel the eyes, but no one has told me to stop.
We ARE supposed to be in community . . . with the Church!!! Read this link . . . I think you’ll find what you are looking for . . .

Thing is…most of the parishes that are within reasonable distance frmo where we live, do not have kneelers. Driving 2 hours to mass isn’t something I know we’ll stick with, so our choices are a bit limited here in our Diocese. I love love love this parish otherwise. Really, the kneelers is my only pet peeve, for lack of a better word. I think that the pastor agreed…he is from ireland, and always resided in parishes with churches that had kneelers. He said that this is not a malformation, however, like some Catholics might think. He wanted to make sure I understood that…
But, the odd thing of all is that they are such a sacramental church…always speaking about how many Catholics need to adhere to the beautiful sacraments given to us…they teach not to leave right after Communion…really have a strong sense of community…and a myriad of other things to build a strong Catholic community. But…someone had to decide this ‘floor plan,’ and I don’t get why the kneelers weren’t built in…I really don’t.
Most parishes I have been to have had kneelers, but there was a lack of love ‘in the air,’ and a deeper sense of community. Not that we need to trade one for another–but without kneelers, we still kneel…the kneelers just make things more comfortable. So, when you think about it–we don’t have to stop kneeling. It is tough, because the priests here are AWESOME …and the mass is really moving…I am not there to be entertained, I don’t feel that way–I just truly feel moved by the mass here…even without kneelers.
