To Laymen, Laywomen or Both?

I have read a variety of positions on these Forums and because of it, I have decided to make a poll. I will not let names be shown because I know how sensitive this issue is. But now let me get to the question. Should duties in the Church such as lectoring, Eucharistic Minsitering, Ushering, Altar Serving, etc. be limited to men, women or both?
I hope this poll goes well.
 
Men only because the church must follow traditions and respond to Biblical teachings, and not to political corrections of the heathens.

Those duties which take place in the Sanctuary should be restricted to males.

I didn’t vote because my view is mixed.

For distributing the Holy Communion, I feel the preference should be for the ordained- which makes it men - or at the most the instituted miniseries. Neither laymen nor laywomen

Likewise for lectoring and altar serving. Regrettably, the fact that Paul VI saw fit to enlarge the scope of who could be admitted to the ministries of acolytes and lectors has been lost- since they still remain mainly transitional roles for ordination candidates- and most dioceses have not seen it fit to make them a regular fixture as they rightly should be. Neither laymen nor laywomen

Ushering- laymen or laywomen.

I answered both. I am a woman EMHC and an Altar Server and a Reader and a Sacristan (Thank God not all at the same Mass:) )

I do NOT believe that women should ever EVER be ordained, but when it comes to other responsibilities within the church, women are more then capable of doing these. The women of Jesus time had a very active role in His ministry, they Served Him while He walked among us. Today, women are doing the same, we are serving our Lord.

As a faithfilled Catholic, if our Bishop or Priest said that women could no longer serve the church in these roles, I would be heartbroken but would be obedient (I pray without bitterness). But as it stands right now, at least in my parish, there are not enough men willing to fill all the roles required.
 
I can’t participate. The question is too vague.

Activities? What activities?

Especially since you’re asking this in reference to the Mass.

altar servers yes, male.

I’m not sure what you mean by not letting names be shown.

My answer is both. Excluding women from lay ministries is ridiculous and backward in my opinion.

ah, come on. You know there are any number of people who disagree with the relevant documents. They don’t care what the documents say, Rome is simply wrong, and obviously spineless, given to flights of Modernism, influenced by the Masons and dictated to liturgically by the Protestants, and probably subject to the Illuminati.

Did I leave anyone out? Let’s see, the Mafia, the Cosa Nostra…

The sad truth is that there are not enough men willing to serve all the positions needed. This may be the main reason lay ministries were created and opened up to all lay persons.

I also believe that the lay ministries must be very structured and disciplined, not people jumping up to “help out” whenever there seems to be a need. (We have people running up to the altar, if a purificator is missing)

I doubt there will ever be female ordinations, but there are many female administrators, and there is certainly a need for women in lay ministries.

I too find polls a bit tedious, but do you say things like this to people face to face?

If you do, fair enough, but your point could be made more charitably.

If your point is going to go “over the OP’s head”, so to speak, it won’t matter how you word it, so you might as well be civil as not.

I hear this kind of thing on this forum all the time. I am just not aware of any Biblical teachings that would forbid women from participating in Mass. (I know someone will trot out that Timothy quote, but even if it means what some think it means, it would not prevent women from doing any of the things being discussed here.) Nor do I think that our Bishops are heathens.

A better question might be, why do so many want to prevent half the Church Militant from assisting in our most holy sacrament?

It was just a question. I am sorry if you find it “dumb.” But you don’t have to answer if you find it so.😉
