I was reading another thread about Mary’s sinlessness and a question occurred to me that would have taken the thread in a different direction then the OP had originally intended. So, I decided to post another thread.
Protestants do not believe in Mary’s sinlessness but they do believe in her virginity at the time of our Lord’s conception. I am sure that most would state that they believe in her virginity due to the biblical passages.
I think that we all know that God does things for a reason. My question to Protestants is: “Why was the virginity of Mary necessary?” In other words, what purpose did her purity serve?
Of course, Catholics can answer also, but I hope for more Protestants responses.
