Talitha said:“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord and to sing praises unto Thy Name, o most high…” Psalm 92
“Praise ye the Lord; Sing unto the Lord a new song, and His praise in the congregation of saints…” Psalm 149
“Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet… praise Him upon the loud cymbals, praise Him with the high sounding cymbal… Let everything that hath breath PRAISE THE LORD!”
…And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and spiritual songs…"Ephesians 5;19
Mary is neither a deity, an idol nor a sacred object.WORSHIP (dictionary.com) -
The reverent love and devotion accorded a deity, an idol, or a sacred object.
The ceremonies, prayers, or other religious forms by which this love is expressed.
You didn’t answer my question.I assume you do not know the Greek words latria and dulia. And you were once Catholic?
I think you believe providing links to Mary Ann Collins site will be useful to your evangelization of Catholics here at catholic.com.
But I just want to point out that her site has no credibility amongst the posters here.
She has already been exposed as a fraud, having converted as a teenager based on a crush on a Catholic boy and having never become a nun (though she claims to be an ex-nun) because she was rejected by a convent.
You really can’t find anyone more credible than a woman who was rejected by a convent?
And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!” Luke 1:28 NKJV (so you get it)What IS your defination of “worship”? (I’ll wait for that answer)
Mary is to be respected for what she did, NOT worshipped for what the Catholic church says.

Yes, I’ve always wondered about that verse- I think the CAtholic Church has a good point there, too. There was a time when Luther agreed. It’s too bad he didn’t keep to his word.
“I never approved of a schism, nor will I approve of it for all eternity… It is not by separating from the Church that we can make her better.”
-Martin Luther
Oh, I know! I think Luther was right about somethings- but I agree that there should be ONE Church- I definatley think Luther would be appaled at the state of Protestantism today- all the thousands of different denominations, ect.
Luther was wrong about some things IMO, as well.
I’m sure you’ve heard this, but in 1 John 5:16-17, it says:
“If anyone sees his brother sinning, if the sin is not deadly, he should pray to God and he will give him life. This is only for those whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin, about which I do not say that you should pray. All wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that is not deadly.”
Scripture says that there is sin that is “deadly” (=mortal) in which prayer will not suffice. That is why Our Lord gave the Apostles the authority to forgive sins in John 20:22-23.
“And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.’”
Interestingly, the only other place in the Scriptures that we find God breathing on man is when He breathed life into Adam and Eve, so this is a pretty big deal!
Finally, as long as one has contrition, I believe the Church teaches that God will have mercy on him if he had the intent of going to Confession but is killed in some freak accident.
I also have no trouble with Purgatory- it makes perfect sense to me!Vanny,
Great post! Keep praying and searching, the HS will bring you home. You are almost their. I was in your shoes a few years ago and finally decided to cross the Tiber and come home. It was the best thing God has ever done for me. Keep the faith!
I’ve met people who say they are Christians because they believe Jesus existed and “died for us” but their lives consist of doing whatever they want. What do you say about them?Isn’t it true that Jesus taught us to love one another. Why do we try to be better then the other church instead of teaching one another. I don’t agree how people think they can do this. I was raised as a Catholic all my life, i go to sunday mass and do what the church says. Im not sure i believe the church, one thing i do believe is that God is shown my heart to follow his son Jesus, and that is all i need. I don’t need any human being to show me another way. All i can say is that my faith is strong with or without a church as long as i follow the 10 commandments and Jesus teachings. Im happy with that. “We are all the lost sheeps and Jesus is our shepard.”
And for all of you who think that the church will save you from going to Hell, only the lord JESUS can and not the church!
I find it VERY hard to believe that you were raised Catholic…but then again, with the type of catechesis that’s being done these days…Isn’t it true that Jesus taught us to love one another. JSmitty2005 i don’t think we ever met, or did we ever see each other on sunday mass, first of all you really have no idea who i am, so don’t you think you are wrong for saying that. Which is why i don’t trust anybody but the lord, and what i believe is true, YES i was a Catholic and my whole family are all CATHOLIC. So obviously i was raised as one. My own mother accepts me for my beliefs now so why should i care what other people think. Im just saying we all need to teach each other not all this nonesense who is a better church or not. The lord Jesus has always spoken the true words. People are not capable of doing this!I find it VERY hard to believe that you were raised Catholic…but then again, with the type of catechesis that’s being done these days…
I don’t particularly care for that phrase either, because it is so easily misunderstood. Mary always points to Jesus, she does nothing at all by herself. The mediatrix thing mostly comes in as I understand it because of her “yes” to becoming the mother of Jesus and allowing herself to be the way for Jesus to bring his grace to the world. When you think about it, that was huge.I also have no trouble with Purgatory- it makes perfect sense to me!
On the other hand, Mary Mediatrix of all Graces makes me nervous- I love Mary- but- I was always taght there is one Mediator between man and God- Jesus Chist.
The Church is the Bride of Christ. I don’t know how an ex-Catholic can be so confused about the intimate relationship between Christ and His Church. And for all of you who think that the church will save you from going to Hell, only the lord JESUS can and not the church!
Im not sure what to say about them, all i know is that i listen to the holy spirit, i am not to judge anybody, only God and Jesus have the power to say how everything should be. We should all watch what we say about other people, for one day we will all be judged. My prayers have always been answered. I know this for a fact.I’ve met people who say they are Christians because they believe Jesus existed and “died for us” but their lives consist of doing whatever they want. What do you say about them?
Has the Holy Spirit given you the charism of infallibility or are you capable of error on matters of faith and morals?Im not sure what to say about them, all i know is that i listen to the holy spirit
