The Church is the Bride of Christ. I don’t know how an ex-Catholic can be so confused about the intimate relationship between Christ and His Church.
I am not confused. Even if i tried to defend myself all you would do is make me look bad, but instead of helping each other. You don’t know Jesus teachings, all you know is what the church teaches. Which to me is not enough. I want the truth not half truth. 😃

Eden:
Has the Holy Spirit given you the charism of infallibility or are you capable of error on matters of faith and morals?
Just because im not Catholic you make it seem i am a bad person, do u really know what’s in my heart? I don’t think you do. Noone in this world would know my heart only GOD and JESUS would know the truth. Why do you keep trying to argue about this topic! Can’t you see all your doing is making a big mess. Instead of helping people you talk about them as if you know what is in their hearts. Im sorry but i don’t believe this is what God wants us to do, even if im not Catholic this doesn’t make me a less human being.

I don’t need anyones approval except GOD. I don’t think changing my faith will send me to hell. Nope! 👍

What a shame that you have been so deceived.

The fullness of truth has always been with His Church which He founded in Jerusalem in 33 A.D.

Jesus founded a visible Church and built He it on Peter.

You rejected the authority of the Church and appointed yourself the authority. Unless of course, you believe the Holy Spirit has given you the gift of infallibility in matters of faith and morals.

I am not a catholic because of several reasons
  1. Some Catholics believe that Mary is a mediator between man and God
1st Timothy 2:5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus
  1. The belief in Purgatory
Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment
  1. The no eating of meat on Fridays especially during Lent.
(now,I never understood this belief cause I havent found a thing in the OT or NT to justify not eating meat on Fridays
  1. The way Communion is done in the Catholic Church is something I disagree with. My church has Communion every week BTW
That is why I am not a Catholic

I also want to say I have huge have respect for Catholics for being very Pro-Life
I would suggest you research the areas that you find to be barriers. You will see that the Church teachings are entirely biblical. Here is a great site:

TrustInTheLord,

You said: “only God and Jesus have the power to say how everything should be.”

Granted it’s an extremely vague assertion, but I’ll agree with you on this point. So, how would you go about actually finding Jesus’ teachings then? Where have they been recorded, and why should we trust those sources? Please inform us.

howdy. well i am protestant. but probly the main reason i aint catholic is because i wasnt raised in a catholic home. and just a couple of months ago i started attended a charismatic episcopal church, and i was raised nondenominational. so the episcopal is something very new for me. but i love it. and even though there still are some things i dont agree with the catholics about, there are still many things i love about the catholic church and i agree with many things. but yep! i really do love the catholic church. God bless
Hi there!

You might be interested in seeing the Journey Home on EWTN with David Zampino , one of the members of this forum. He was a former Charismatic Espicopal Priest, who converted to the Catholic Church. His story is pretty awesome!

You don’t understand purgatory? So, you left the Church instead of researching why it is biblical? :ehh:
Like i said i don’t need anybody’s approval, and I am not going to play GOD. My own mother who is raised as a catholic all her life respects my faith. Why are you judging me?

I did not leave the church, i would still go to a Catholic church with my family, i just found another church that teaches more about the bible. And i like it. Is that a sin against God?

I know not to put anyone down, as Jesus taught us to love one another, i will do as he says. 👍

TrustInTheLord:
Isn’t it true that Jesus taught us to love one another. Why do we try to be better then the other church instead of teaching one another. I don’t agree how people think they can do this. I was raised as a Catholic all my life, i go to sunday mass and do what the church says. Im not sure i believe the church, one thing i do believe is that God is shown my heart to follow his son Jesus, and that is all i need. I don’t need any human being to show me another way. All i can say is that my faith is strong with or without a church as long as i follow the 10 commandments and Jesus teachings. Im happy with that. “We are all the lost sheeps and Jesus is our shepard.” 👍

And for all of you who think that the church will save you from going to Hell, only the lord JESUS can and not the church!
You’re a headhunter. By saying that all you need is Jesus to the exclusion of His Church, you have decapitated Christ’s head from His Body. You see, the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim. 3:15). And what is the Truth? It is a person, Jesus Christ (John 14:6). So the Church is the foundation of Jesus Christ, and yet we also know that Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Church (1 Cor. 3:11). No matter how you look at it, Jesus and the Church are inseparable. As Pope Benedict XVI recently put it, “The individualist Jesus is a fantasy.” If you really want to follow Jesus, you must listen to His Church. Otherwise, you are a heathen (Matt. 18:17).

I have dos preguntas. In your mind, what is unbiblical about the Catholic Church? Also, why do you hold as your final and only authority something (the Bible) that Jesus didn’t give us?

Please i am not God, so obviously i can’t show you all the facts. I can only say that i would follow Jesus teachings by reading the bible and following his ways. I also go to a born again christian church, where a Pastor teaches more about the bible and Jesus teachings. The church i go to now is very different from the Catholic church, it is interesting to learn new things about the holy bible if we are all willing to listen. We all need to be more open to other church and see what is out there. We shouldn’t be so judgemental. 👍

If you’re truly seeking Jesus Christ with a completely open heart, I guarantee you 110% that you will be lead back into the Catholic Church. Stick around these forums for a while. You may learn a few things about your former faith. 😉

Well, if you’re willing to listen. Go here and read what it says about the Holy Bible. I would imagine that you will “learn new things.”

  1. That verse is quoted several times in the Catechism, so it’s not as if the Church doesn’t know it exists. We simply have a different interpretation of it (particularly an interpretation that goes back 2000 years 👍 ). Jesus reconciled mankind to God the Father by His sacrifice on the cross. In that way, He is the only mediator. However, Mary was a mediator in a way by saying ‘yes’ to God. Also, I may be a mediator between you and God by praying for you.
  2. Purgatory is entirely biblical. See here.
  3. Not eating meat on Fridays is a discipline (as contrasted with a doctrine) that can be done away with. However, the idea of fasting is also completely biblical.
  4. You’ll have to be more specific because I don’t really understand what you mean. All I can say is that the Church has always been liturgical. Even before Christ the Jews were too.

Do you know Jesus teachings? What does the Pope got to do with this, he is not JESUS!
I actually listen to the Catholic church, but i realize that i needed to know JESUS and his teachings. You are not following me, all im saying is that i feel there is something missing everytime i go to the catholic church. Thanks for your concern but i think i know what’s best for me. 👍

Okay, I’ll make it simple on you. Why should you read the Bible? Where does Jesus ever talk about reading the Bible? Your pastor said to read the Bible I’m sure, but what does he have to do with it…? As you said regarding the Pope - “He is not Jesus!”

TrustInTheLord:
Do you know Jesus teachings?
Of course I do.
What does the Pope got to do with this, he is not JESUS!
Everything! Jesus appointed Peter (the first pope) to lead His Church on earth for when He ascended into Heaven until His second coming. By listening to Peter we are obeying Jesus Who told us to listen to His Church when He is gone.
I actually listen to the Catholic church, but i realize that i needed to know JESUS and his teachings.
If you were really listening then you would realize that the Catholic Church teaches that you need “to know JESUS and his teachings.”
You are not following me, all im saying is that i feel there is something missing everytime i go to the catholic church.
Actually, I follow you more than you think that I do. I’ve been in your shoes before. I once felt that “something was missing” too. But you have to remember that going to church isn’t about what you get out of it but what you put into it. It’s also not supposed to be about entertaining music or whether or not the pastor preached a good sermon.
Thanks for your concern but i think i know what’s best for me. 👍

Yeah. Why should you read the Bible? Because your pastor told you to? It sounds like he’s your pope.

I didn’t say that the Catholic church is unbiblical, all i said was i want to learn more about JESUS teachings.

God told us to follow his only son JESUS. Why is the holy bible around, is it for decorations? I don’t think so, it is our guide to follow God’s rules.

The lord JESUS is the only one who can teach us to live peacefully. If we all follow his way the world would be a better place. But that is just a dream. 😦

Then go to Confession and remain in the Church. Stick around these forums and you’ll learn more about the Bible than your pastor will ever be able to teach you.
God told us to follow his only son JESUS. Why is the holy bible around, is it for decorations? I don’t think so, it is our guide to follow God’s rules.
Agreed, but why do YOU think the Bible is around? (you still haven’t answered my 2 questions from earlier)
The lord JESUS is the only one who can teach us to live peacefully. If we all follow his way the world would be a better place. But that is just a dream. 😦
Amen to that! 🙂

Did i ever mention that the Pastor is only a teacher, not the Pope who is trying to be JESUS. 😉

Reading the bible is good for your soul, if you want to learn the right way to live, who is the only one we can trust to show us this " THE LORD JESUS" which is God’s only son. Does God have to tell you to go to church every sunday or does the church have to tell you this? Hmm…I go to my church because that is where i know God will be. And i read the bible because God says to follow his son Jesus. Obviously that is what the bible talks about, if you ever read it. 👍
