Excuse me, 'lashing out?" Ranting and raving??
I asked a simple question. It was neither rude nor uncharitable.
I asked a simple question. It was neither rude nor uncharitable.
Jesus was addressing a crowd when someone said that blessed is the womb which held him and Jesus made the statement about those being even more blessed. I think you know exactly what I was referring to. You seem like a pretty smart person with the Latin name and all.I donât see that in my Bible.
The passage addressed to St. Thomas says nothing about being more blessed than Mary.
The comment about Protestants worshipping Bibles was totally ludacrous and nonsensical.Excuse me, 'lashing out?" Ranting and raving??

Luke 11:27 As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, Blessed is the mother who gave birth to you and nursed you and Jesus replied, Blessed RATHER are those who hear the Word of God and obey it.Luke 11: Yes, and also, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it.
Not 'those who do so are âmore blessedâ, but that they are âlikewiseâ blessed. Those who hear and keep the word of God are part of the family as well.
Oh please - your hyperbola and sarcasm tells us what you worship. If it wasnât so tragic it would be absolutely entertaining to watch the RCC dance around quotes like that one about Mary being sovereign in heaven.
There is only one thing Iâm aware of that the RCC doesnât do about Mary, and that is say that she is God. And I think THEY think that as long as they donât do that, they arenât worshipping her. But think about what constitutes worship.âAdoration, obssession, thinking about something or someone all the time, making likenesses of the thing or person, ascribing supernatural things to the person or thing, ascribing God-like qualities to the person or thing, taking time that could be spent exclusively with God and devoting that time and energy to the object of your obssession, and maybe one of the ultimates, PRAYING TO THE OBJECT OF YOUR OBSSESSION, my! my! my!
You know what they sayâŚ
âŚIt certainly LOOKS like a duckâŚwhat are those pieces of skin between the toes?..by golly, it WALKS like a duckâŚwhat is that long flat beak for?..those feathers, whyâŚand what IS that noise? Is that barking? No, by golly, I think it QUACKS like a duck! But itâs not. Itâs really a dog, and we have some very impressive authorities with amazing pedigrees who will back this up, and by the way, what they say can actually trump anything you may have been taught about ducks
Wonderful! Why carry on about her? Jesus is our life our sweetness and our hope. Many saints did many great things. They were all human beings just as Mary was.Napsack, where in Scripture does it say that Mary is âjust a vessel for God to be made Incarnate?â
Further, Scripture âcontains the Inspired Word of Godâ between the leather covers of an inanimate object.
Mary âcontainedâ (to use your analogy) the Living God for 9 months in her human body, as a human being, nourishing Him with that body, giving birth, suckling, caring for and raising the totality of the Living God, accompanying Him to the cross itself. . .
Your actions have surely shown otherwise. I think that is what so many people are seeing and speaking of.Iâm not 'carrying on about her", Napsack. Iâm giving her the reverence she is due.
Now, if you ask me about the worship that I give to God, I can tell you that, compared to the reverence I have given to Mary as you have seen, it is as far beyond that as the heavens are above the earth.
For Godâs sake, you argue about the version of Scripture I quoted from and then you cut and paste and then twist to try and keep Mary where you want her in the passage. Read what it says. period.Iâve seen Luke 11 without the âratherâ but it would only mean that âthose who hear and keep the word of Godâ would be blessed âinstead ofâ Mary IF Mary herself did NOT 'hear and keep the word of God.
Instead, Jesus acknowledges that Mary is blessed with the âYESâ part, doesnât He? And He never in Scripture says that Mary does not hear and keep the word of God, does He?
Therefore, not only is she blessed in being the one who bore Jesus, but alsoâratherâshe is blessed, like us, because she hears and keeps Godâs word.
Let me be sure I have this straight.Your actions have surely shown otherwise. I think that is what so many people are seeing and speaking of.
It doesnât say Yes, Rather. Jesus just says Rather. What are you driving at here? How am I âcutting and pasting?â You yourself posted the Scripture of âYes, ratherâ. . are you trying to deny that Jesus said âYesâ and acknowledged that Mary was blessed for bearing Him?
27
While he was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, âBlessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.â
28
He replied, âRather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.â
Footnote from USCCB said:[27-28]
The beatitude in Luke 11:28 should not be interpreted as a rebuke of the mother of Jesus; see the note on Luke 8:21. Rather, it emphasizes (like Luke 2:35) that attentiveness to Godâs word is more important than biological relationship to Jesus.
