To what degree do you feel hatred at the world around you?

It can be argued either way: We can feel hatred towards the world or we can experience peace and love towards the world. I personally feel great hatred toward the world, but I do not feel angry. Indeed, I believe God is leading me in this miserable and corrupt world to everlasting happiness in Heaven.

I’m sure there are many perspectives that a good Catholic can have, and so I would like your experience here.
How do you define hatred?

Is it the opposite of love? If the definition of love is to will the good of the other is the definition of hate to will the destruction of the other? Do you will the destruction of the world? And by the word, world, do you mean other people in this world, the environment, the animals, plants? Do you wish their destruction?

I think we are called to be detached to the things of this world, to not put too much importance to them. However recall the words of John 3:16 and God’s love for the world, so much so that He gave His only Son to die for it.

I personally do not believe everyone should hate this life, but I do think it’s appropriate for many, especially those in a hermitage. It therefore may not be an official Church teaching but it is equally not a Church teaching to love this life. And, again, there’s biblical support for hating this life:

*“Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.”
-John 12:25 *
‘this is the day the Lord hath made let us rejoice and be glad in it’

‘love one another as I have loved you’

‘whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers that you do unto me’

sunrise, sunsets, a smile, laughter… a spiritual being in a physical body… me thinks we don’t know how lucky we are… someday you will… the angels are jealous of us… mostly because we get to receive the Body and Blood of Christ… but also because we are alive in this world…

The world, defined as the people in it: love
The world, defined as God’s creation: love
The world, defined as “the system of ideals that work in rebellion against God”: hate
👍

Mostly I feel sad towards this world. The whole thing seems like a child in denial, avoiding the painful mourning it will eventually have to go through. 😦

But yeah, I try to love everybody. 🙂 That’s why I feel so sad for them. 😦

I’m one who hates my life in this world, but I do not feel anger. I feel a GREAT spiritual love for people! I’m also joyful, but it’s directed toward the Hereafter.

I don’t feel any hatred towards the world around me but I do feel anger towards the things that happen in this world which are immoral.

Begin by stating - I new to this forum, and while I was raised Catholic, I am now Methodist. I listen nearly every day to Catholic radio and am drawn to so many teachings of the Catholic faith.
Hatred in the world - I look at the tragedies that have happened Oklahoma tornado, school shootings, finding missing women in Cleveland etc. and despite the grief and terror, the good will and prayers of people always come forth. My granddaughter was born 11/11/11 at 25 weeks, weighing 1 lb 15 oz and we saw first hand prayers and love from so many. Through Christ and the prayers, she is thriving! Prayers and devotions of faith have always defeated hatred and difficulties, and I don’t see that changing.
