Possibly.
Although it strikes me that sometimes there are more people accusing people of 'blaming Vatican 2" than there are people who actually do 'blame Vatican 2."

It’s kind of like the “every thread will sooner or later wind up comparing somebody to Adolf Hitler” idea.

Here, sooner or later every thread will wind up accusing somebody of 'blaming Vatican 2". . .somewhere. 😀

I wonder what people blamed before Vatican II, since all this stuff was no doubt around before that time as well. Perhaps they blamed Freemasonry and “modernism”.
Well, history shows us that many of the popes blamed modernism, so I guess that would put people in good company.

I don’t think that’s the case, although things certainly are changing. In years past, no matter what the setting or forum, some seemed almost hard-wired to blame “Vatican II”, “modernism” or particularly “liberalism” for the Church’s ills without any apparent understanding of the judgement(s) they were employing.

They just simply never spent the time researching the genesis of many of the problems (particularly liturgical) within the Church.

I personally believe that genuine ignorance, arrogance, sloth, vengeance and the individual tastes of some, have contributed to far more problems in the past 50 years in the Church than “Vatican II”, “modernism” or particularly “liberalism.”
