Do you believe in OSAS? Then please read today’s scirpture readings and let me know if they do not convince you otherwise… (or just comment on the passages 🙂

Galatians 5:18-25: "Brothers and Sisters: If you are guided by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are obvous:

immorality, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, rivalry, jealousy, outbursts of fury, acts of selfishmness, dissensions, factions, occasions of envy, drinking bouts, orgies and the like. I warn you, as i warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God [what? No OSAS?? ]

In contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, and peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-conrol. Against such there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spriit… / Psalm 1: Those who follow you, Lord, will have the light of life…

St. Luke 11:42-46: The Lord said: “Woe to you Pharisees! You pay tithes of mint and of rue and of every garden herb, but you pay no attention to judgment and to love for God. These you should have done, without overlooking the others. Woe to you Pharisees! You love the seat of honor in synagogues and greetings in marketplaces. Woe to you! You are like unseen graves over which people unknowingly walk.” Then one of the scholars of the law said to him in reply, “Teacher, by saying this you are insulting us too.” and he said, "Woe also to you schalars of the law! 😃 ] You impose on people burdens hard to carry, but you yoursleves do not lift one finger to touch them.

(Just thought you may want to know where the (Original) Church “is at” today 🙂 )

do ya think??? :hmmm:

😃

i hope i don’t find out that all 31 were Protestants!!!

:nope:

One was, me - now twice. I enjoyed the passage, but as I’m not OSAS, I didn’t respond. Thanks for sharing God’s word.

thanks for saying thanks… i think i will post the daily Scriptures every day… or every day i have access to the internet… To be ignorant of scirpture, as some saint said, is to be ignorant of Christ…

I try to go to Mass every day… because I love the Word… I never knew it was so… well, TRUE… when i was young and uncatechized…

I know this isn’t very scientific, but i know the scirptures are the word of God because… they strike a chord in my heart and soul and mind… In other words, i just know it is the Word of God…

and it is always best, as you probably know… to hear that Word in the Presence of Christ in His Church… (St. Matthew 28:20… etc)

I pray you spend massive amounts of time There… 😃 🙂 :heaven:

Not as much as I want or should, sadly. But I will look for your postings of the word, and be thankful for it.

thanks… Hopefully you speak for 1000s of others (except that part about not being with Jesus [the Real Presence] very much… 😦 )

:highprayer:

Well, many of us receive daily readings on-line. Also, this is in the non-C threads, which many may pass by. The scriptural evidence abounds against OSAS. Doesn’t stop a few from taking temporary comfort in its false promise.

Just who would promulgate or inspire the OSAS concept anyway? I am speaking of the immortal, ever present inspiration for such ideas. “If you eat of this fruit you will not die, you will be as gods, knowing good and evil” Yes, it’s him alright. Who else would trick man into thinking that God’s judgment is guaranteed to be withheld? Where is the “fear and trembling” is OSAS? It’s not.

The demon divides. Only the Holy Spirit unites.

.
to me, there has rarely come along so false a doctrine, and so full of destructiveness… Many people treat each other SO terribly becaue they believe this nonsense… They do not see that whatever they do to humans, they do to God (St. Matthew 25:31-46)… and they do not want to realize that the wrath of God against sin did NOT disappear with the Resurrection… If anything we are even more accountable NOW… than before the Resurrection…

I just don’t understand why someone would believe something SO unbiblical… I think it is because Protestants don’t read the bible as much as they claim to… and/or when they read, they don’t understand a lot of it… and since they believe in osas, they dont’ believe the HAVE to understand it… so they skip over this and that and throw out this and that… and pretty soon… voi la! They have created the Word in their own fallible image…

I see this word catechized places and don’t know what it means , by the context of it it sounds like something I’d be interested in , I am technically Catholic though I’ve spent years not really being a practicing Catholic , I feel kindred to what this individual said , when I was younger and went to church with my family I didn’t realize how true everything I was hearing there was. and based on what he’s saying here , for me to go from uncatechized to I guess catechized would be a good thing for my walk of faith , can anyone give me any recomendations for what I need to do ?

Well, certain sects are well known for cherry-picking scripture and out-of-context usage. This is the devil’s work, as we all know that scripture is a seamless garment and must be taken in toto.

The evil one tempts with scripture, as he tried and failed to do with Christ. He twisted its meaning and was sent brusquely away! May we learn from Christ’s example.

thanks alot , I’ll check those out , I guess it just means to be brought into a place of more thorough knowledge about what the truth is and that the Catholic Church guards the truth , no ?
thanks again brother

I’ll try to do better. I promise. :o
if you live in a city with lots of Catholic Churches… then i envy you… you can be with Jesus anytime you want…

i did better, all the way around, when i lived in a big city… one Church had the Exposed Sacrament 24/7…

I can see i am suffering greatly the loss of that blessing… :crying: :banghead: :ouch:

catechized just means being taught the faith… I became fully catechized on my own… because i wanted to be able to explain to Protesatnt friends (and “friends”) why i am Catholic. It was really weird becasue i almost didn’t delve into the teachings of the Church and get catechized… I felt that Well, i am a Christian… who goes to the Catholic Church but sometimes to others… I am doing OK not being catechized…

I found out how wrong i was on THAT one… The things i learned about the Faith have blessed me in ways i cannot put into words… In particular, i found the Real Presence, which a good priest was kind enough to direct me to… best Gift i have ever been given…

I think a lot of catholics are not catechized… fully or otherwise… pretty sad… I don’t understand why the Church doesn’t teach her members better than she does… Souls are being lost becasue of it…

(because some people believe false things… like once-saved-always-saved… and the health/prosperity doctrine…  )

Speaking of thinking…do ya think maybe there are about 8 million other places to read the daily readings other than here? Perhaps that is a more logical reason why only 31 people pursued your post…
