Toilet paper shortage

Just got back from the grocery store. TP is pretty well stocked. Meat wasn’t so great, but I was able to get what I needed. Vegetables were well stocked. Disinfectant wipes were no where to be found. I noticed frozen veggies are a little scarce. Pasta and sauces were very low. Very little flour too.

Thanks for the info, Convert3. In the US, I heard meat may become more scarce in the short term because some of the meat packing plants were shut down or Its workers slowed down by the prevalence of the virus.

Where I live, flour was in short supply but is now readily available, although disinfectant wipes are still hard to find. Vegetables have been mostly available but occasionally low in variety.

I was finally able to locate toilet paper recently at my local Sam’s Club, although it was the store brand (Members Mark or something like that).

We have plenty of toilet paper now. It’s disinfectant wipes that are still scarce.

If you go to Clorox website they have been instructions on how to make your own wipes

I found bleach at Costco, but had to buy three gallons. We gave some away.

when we ended up with a couple of gallons over a couple of days, it meant that I could finally return to brewing activity . . .

And today in lowes, there were two brands of paper towels. I didn’t even buy any, as we’re no longer low . . . but they didn’t have quart spray bottles, which are the new shortage. I just wanted a better one for the rinseless wash for my poor car, which has to park under a tree . . .
(the one I have has a spring that gets really weak after half a dozen squirts)

Most Japanese toilets come with a built-in bidet. While it doesn’t completely eliminate the need for toilet paper, it does significantly reduces the amount of toilet paper used. Maybe that’s something worth considering.

After coming here to Japan and actually used it, I can’t live without it anymore. The idea of having only toilet paper to wipe the behind without washing it with a bidet first disgusts me now. The bidet does a much better job in cleaning it up, and toilet paper is just meant to dry it afterwards.
