Some people know me on here. And I’ll advise you to not judge me based on what you see me say here. I am biased in this situation, obviously. But I’ll try to make this as fair as possible.
So I am told, quite frequently, by my parents, to leave…As in, move out.
Not because “its time” or because “I’m ready” but instead because of my “attitude”.
Now I’m not perfect. I know that. I can be a real butt sometimes.
But according to my parents, I am alway wrong. They are always right. If I say something, and they think I have an attitude, that’s it. No debate necessary because no matter what I say, I am having a bad attitude.
They take the 4th commandment seriously. I have to obey them and not argue no matter what. And if they treat me like crud, I am still wrong. They will not apologize, and if they do…its sarcastically.
I am 19, working very scarcely. Usually for my mom at her office. I’ve only worked twice for my brother in law.
My high school work isn’t even finished because I have been at home…all day, nearly every day…watching my 4 siblings (Ages 2, 5, 7 and 11) while my parents worked.
This is the 3rd year of my HS senior year. But even so…its my own fault…according to them. or at least, partially my fault. Because I mess around too much and play games all the time.
Fine, I play video games…But I don’t play them THAT much.
So my dad lost his job a month or so ago. And now he’s at home all the time. Even though he says he understands why I never got anything done…he still treats me like crud about it.
And when I do other stuff throughout the day…like…I dunno SCHOOLWORK…I am “doing nothing all day”
So let’s get to some of the threats…
The other night, I was saying the rosary with my family (save my dad who doesn’t say it. he was out anyways) And my little brother (2) was running around making noise. My mom was over-reacting to him, and I told her so. But in a deliberately calm way. Minutes later, my little sister (7) was messing around and I said “Haley…Relax”…Of course, all my mom cared to hear was “Relax” and even though I wasn’t even looking at her, she freaks out and tells me to leave (As in, walk out the door and leave the house. Not leave the room) and I calmly got up, and went to the door. I calmly said “If you had bothered to listen, you would have heard that I said ‘HALEY (I had raised my voice on that one and lost my cool) relax’!”
I went upstairs and to my room. Or course, she never bothered me about it again. She never apologized either. The fact that she didn’t mention it again led me to believe that she knew she was wrong. But stll no apology. Because, as I said…they are never wrong.
So today, I was doing schoolwork in my living room. I had the radio on, and I stopped listening to it. My dad asked me to read some questions to my 7 year old sister. I had to first read the short story those questions were about so that I could know the answers.
So I am reading, and my little sister asks me to turn off the radio. I asked her to hold on. (According to my dad, I was getting mad at her…He’s never wrong remember?) and she went right to my dad and said that I wasn’t turning the radio off. My dad tells me to do so. Because “she can’t concentrate”…but I informed him that she was only sitting on the couch. I was reading that for her. But he wouldn’t hear it and told me to go to my room. Then he told me to get dressed and leave.
Of course when I talk to him about it when he “allowed” me to go back downstairs (I wouldn’t leave, I’m not a jerk) he was telling me that I was getting mad at my sister. And I am never wrong…ha…I am wrong all the time, but at least I can admit when I am. He said he didn’t know what I said, but heard I was getting mad at her. Yeah…Right…To be fair, assume that was true. Does it still deserve that threat? I said “Oh my gosh!” to HIM after he refused to listen to me. I may have repeated myself to Haley who couldn’t wait half a minute for me to finish reading first.
That’s not even all of it. There are MANY other times where they tell me to leave. Like if I am upset, or if they hurt my feelings, they tell me “You know where the door is”
I can’ stand this anymore. But I can’t leave.
I am not done with HS. And all the babysitting I have done these last years (ha, like 5 or MORe) was for college. They promised to pay for my college. BUT if I leave, they won’t. And I don’t have a job. and I’m saving up what little money I earn to get married. And it will be extremely difficult to save if I am living on my own. Especially if I’m going to college as well.
This is impossible and I cannot stand they way they are treating me. Because I am always wrong. No matter what.
