I wonder how many people Scientology will get from the publicity?People have been thinking of this sect as a cult for years, actually.

It is because most Catholics receive no instruction in the faith and are Catholic in name only. This is sad. I saw a little interview with Katie Holmes and the person interviewing her asked her, “Has Tom gotten you into scientology at all?” and she said that she had gone to a few meetings and she liked it and thought it was helping her to become a better person. I don’t see how you can go from being a Catholic your whole life to believing in stuff like this.
Cece,My brother has been lost to that cult. He quit it (they are looking
for him), but it still affects him. I believe he lost his mind from it, as he began hearing voices. Now, he may have had problems anyway, but they appeared at the time he was attempting to quit. Prior to that, he was relatively normal. Although he is no longer active, it still affects his thinking. He will not seek medical care because of the belief about medication. I believe the cult seeks out and attracts unstable people, and discourages medication because this may help their delusions.
There is most certainly brainwashing involved. It is most certainly
diabolical. My brother is not an evil person, but he is no longer
the person he was. He rarely speaks to any of us, particularly me
because I am so straightforward about what I think of it all. He
is a lost soul; I wonder how culpable he is. I pray for healing; I sincerely believe he is possessed because of the voices. I’ve
left it in the hands of God. He doesn’t perpetrate evil on people
because at heart he is a good person. Out of charity, pray for
our brothers and sisters who fall prey to this. The sacraments are the only antidote to this pervading evil. Jesus is our only answer.
Funny, he knows this and accepts this, but is unable to grasp it fully. God help us.![]()
YikesTom certainly isn’t an atheist anymore, in fact the opposite in reverse. This is quoted from an interview with L. Ron Hubbard Jr. (Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard’s son):
“… Also I’ve got to complete this by saying that he thought of himself as the Beast 666 Incarnate.” Interviewer: “The devil?” Ron Jr.: "Yes. Aleister Crowley thought of himself as such. And when Crowley died in 1947 my father then decided that he should wear the cloak of the beast; and become the most powerful being in the universe.
"Scientology is black magic that is spread out over a long time period. To perform black magic generally takes a few hours or at most; a few weeks. But in Scientology it is stretched out over a lifetime and so you don’t see it. Black magic is the inner core of Scientology - and it is probably the only part of Scientology that really works.
"Also you’ve got to realize that my father did not worship Satan. He thought he was Satan. He was one with Satan. He had a direct pipeline of communication and power with him. My father wouldn’t have worshipped anything, I mean. When you think you’re the most powerful being in the universe, you have no respect for anything let alone worship.
“… The one super-secret sentence that Scientology is built on is: ‘Do as thou wilt. That is the whole of the law.’ It also comes from the black magic, from Aleister Crowley. It means that you are a law unto yourself, that you are above the law, that you create your own law. You are above any other human considerations.”
Question: She was referring to Scientology, right?
I think I read somewhere that its only an illusion, that theres only about six famous Scientologists. Still, for such a small religion, the proportions are scary…It’s interesting that so many of the Hollyweird crowd have fallen for it - a sociologist could do a heck of a thesis on this phenomenon.

Hello,From what I’ve read on the net recently(I think froma link someone posted someplace on these forums), scientology doesn’t believe in taking :nope:any medications. At least not real ones. They have everybody on a weird cocktail of supplements, which are supposed not to affect your “clear” status…People who have gotten out of it, say that :nope:even if your life is threatened by not taking your meds, you aren’t allowed to take them. And many are so brainwashed that they go along with this…:nope:
I don’t doubt that, we have many who claim to be Catholics yet they are not.Hello,
I would like to answer this. I am a Scientologist, however, I have a bit of a background in Catholicism, as my father was Catholic. I was not raised Catholic - we didn’t really go to church at all - but my brother and his family are Catholic, as is my sister.
I have great respect for Catholicism, as a number of my friends are Catholic, including my babysitter, who attends Mass weekly - and also takes Scientology courses and receives Scientology counseling.
