One more time look at the picture in the background. You can see the bottom of the tables with multiple candles lit, there Christ is present.Yes it is true the Blessed Sacrament comes out, like for Adoration or Mass. But to say we should take our Lord out of His house to allow a pagan idol in the house and if that was done this would be acceptable. Makes no sense and it wrong to do.

I am bowoing out of my discussion with you. Candles lit do not mean a tabernacle lamp is burning. They are distinct sorts of candles.

Sorry that people flagged your posts. It was not me.

Although I disagree about the Holy Father, we are all of course entitled to our opinions, and yours is not worth any less than mine.

@halogirl, be sure to read the link posted by Lysander in post 81. Its the most balanced explanation of both sides of the subject I have come across.

I saw the word bandied about on here but I haven’t had a lot of free time lately (Pregnant so when I’m not at work I’m eating and sleeping 🙂 ) thanks for the link !

Ok this quote from the article in post 81 ‘Questions went mostly unanswered. Vatican officials pointed to organizers of synod events, who pointed back to Vatican officials’ suggests to me that someone dropped a ball here organising this. Perhaps it was improperly researched or just assumed to be BVM which I honestly thought it was at first glance. Such a massive event, trying to be inclusive to all in the region, I can see how something like this slipped through the net.

My impression of the whole Panchamama affair was that Pope Francis never intended that these things be worshiped as idols; rather he allowed them inside to show respect for a culture that he felt had been demeaned by the Church in the past.

Considering there was nothing wrong with the ceremony at the Vatican, my family and I will do a day of fasting and prayer for the enlightenment of those who are so distraught about it… anyone is free to join me

I chose to do it for reparation for mankind’s sins in general, not specifically because of Pachamama. Any sins associated with Pachamama, whether it’s idolatry or theft of the sculptures or whatever, were covered in the general reparation.

I am troubled by how many are doing all kinds of fasting and prayers for the Apostolic Exhortation to be written in just the way they personally think it should be. I have framed my own novena intention to be that God helps the Holy Father to lead the Church in the direction God wants it to go and that the Pope’s flock will follow him in that way and divisions will be healed.

My phone auto corrected it to capital G. I stand by the rest of my post though.

that the Holy Father will draw conclusions from the synod which do not contradict anything which was previously taught by the Church
That the Holy Father will teach the truth and continue to have the strength to lead the Church with courage.

Western culture masquerading as Christianity is what needs an exorcism. Western culture has abrogated it’s Christian identity for the goods of the world.
Tomorrow’s Gospel is apropos here: “The axe lies at the root of the tree.”

Western Christian culture is on it’s deathbed. And the kingdom of God will go on without or without those who are kicking and screaming.

And since the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe is upon us, we should remind ourselves that those who are having babies, and have passionate faith in Christ, and who do have vibrant family culture, will renew our Western Christian civilization.

Before you get your knickers all in a knot about statues, you ought to go out to your local Guadalupe celebration and see how God is working.

Teaching the Truth = non contradiction of the previous teaching of the Church
Among other things… like teaching something new or development and deepening of previous teaching… or in some cases admitting mistakes and changing

I don’t have a local Guadalupe mass/ congregation. Can you teach me more about it ?

… St. Nicholas, as an ardent and rigid defender of orthodoxy, would no doubt be a fitting saint to ask for intercession in “driving out any diabolic influence within the Church that has been gained as a result of recent events.”
How very true.
Yet I wonder how many Mass-going Catholics are even aware of the idol worship that took place in the Vatican during the synod???

I found out too late to fit much into my schedule, so I only ate breakfast and prayed all three mysteries of the Holy Rosary.

Here’s another good reason for this day to be dedicated to acts of reparation and purification against pollution from idols. From “The Life of The Holy Hierarch and Wonderworker Nicholas Archbishop Of Myra in Lycia”
At that time there remained still many Hellenic temples, to which impious people were attracted by devilish suggestion and many inhabitants of Myra remained in perdition. The archbishop of the Most High God, animated by Divine zeal, visited all these places, destroying and turning into dust the temples of the idols and purifying his flock from diabolical defilement. Thus fighting with evil spirits, St. Nicholas came to the temple of Diana,[15] which was very large and richly adorned. presenting an agreeable dwelling for demons. St. Nicholas destroyed this polluted temple, leveled its high edifice to the ground and the very foundation of the temple, which was in the earth, he scattered in the air, taking up arms more against the demons than against the temple itself. The evil spirits, not enduring the arrival of the servant of God, uttered doleful cries, but, vanquished by the weapon of prayer of the unconquerable warrior of Christ, St. Nicholas, they were forced to flee from their habitation.
That is an awesome quote.
Why won’t our shepherds follow St. Nicholas? They are at the forefront of fighting evil spirits. Instead, they too often seem to welcome them.
