Anyone with common sense disagrees with the Church’s position on condom use. That’s the bad news. The good news is that few listen anyway!

Anyone with common sense disagrees with the Church’s position on condom use.
And a lot of these same people also disagree with the Church’s position on sex outside of marriage, and can’t figure out why their lives are such a mess, so so much for “common sense.”

Yeah, well Tony Blair is so overflowing with wonderful ideas to the point that the scribes are wearing out their quills! Anyone who disagrees obviously doesn’t live in the UK as I had to pinch myself this morning as I thought I had died and gone straight to Heaven.

Do us all a favour Tony, retire to the country and never be heard from again. Do it before everyone you sent to war comes back and “votes from the rooftops!”

And what is the incidence of AIDS and other STDS for those with “common senses” as opposed to those who fully embrace the Churhc’s teaching?

Tony Blair, in a message that seemed to be aimed directly at the Vatican, warned that the Catholic Church’s ban on contraceptioon is putting lives at risk and hampering the fight against HIV and Aids.

Pretty good article/opinion on the issue at Domus Dei blog:

I wish he was as concerned with all the babies murdered in his country as he is with saying the Vatican is putting lives at risk.
On the link they refer to the baby as “contents” it don’t even have the dignity of a name.

Put your own house in order Tony and then get back to us.😦

Unfortunately British Catholics don’t even raise much of a fuss about British abortion laws any more. There is no evidence that they even consider the issue as they vote for pro- abortion candidate’s usng the excuse there’s nothing they can do about it.

I suppose we’ve become so blinded by satan in a way, it’s only a blob, DNA, and like I said on that site it’s the first time I’ve heard the baby called** “contents”**, like it were a piece of meat.
It’s hypocritical to say the Vatican in not allowing condoms is killing many, when children are killed everyday in England and other places, speck, log, beam Tony.

Anyway probably off topic, but below is what annoys me about Tony Blair poking his nose in, when millions have been killed, who should have been born.

**
The government pretends to care but it plainly does not. Earlier this month it announced guidelines which allow girls under 16 to have abortions without parental consent or notification.

"The figures also confirm that Britain’s abortion holocaust exceeded six million lives by the end of 2003. In England and Wales alone, the total to date is nearly 5.7 million.
“Recent proposals from Lord Steel and others to introduce a right to abortion up to 12 weeks will lead to higher abortion rates, and must be resisted.” **Society for the Protection of the Unborn

Waht a wonderfully intelligent leade rthis ‘Tony Blair’.

Would anyone from England care to expalin this?

Just for the record, I didn’t vote for him, or his cronies.

I am in Britain, and as far as I know, no party is against abortion. I’m sorry. We don’t have a Republican party.

Tony Blair wants votes. No one loses by attacking the Church in politics. At the moment.
As for his wife:
Cherie Blair doesn’t just disagree with the Church on condoms. She is against male-only and celibate priesthood. In the book *Why I am still a Catholic *(ed. Stanford, Peter. Continuum, 2005) she says ‘Though the pace of change in the Catholic Church can seem slow, I believe that there are many people in this country- and not just the laity- who are convinced of the need for it.’ That falls just after this line ‘Of course i have doubts…on contraception or the role of women’. It’s pretty clear she hasn’t a leg to stand on as a Catholic role model.

I agree she isn’t much of a Catholic role model as I believe both her and Tony are pro choice.
Apparently Tony was on MTV saying all this stuff and then our Cardinal was on national TV and suggested instead of flooding Africa with condoms, he should send more medicine etc to help fight it.

In the West, yes. Not half so much in Africa, for example.

Note I’m obviously not saying that using condoms is correct behaviour, but to say the Church’s position has no effect on the availability of condoms is just wrong.

Mike, where is your evidence that the churches position hinders availability? That is a powerful claim and you’d better have powerful evidence! Showme in what AIDS ridden African country the church has hindered condom availability! I want stats and numbers and eywitness accounts!

Not so long ago there were threads about Blair’s coming into the Catholic Church when his office expired.

There were also threads about a particular bishop allowing him to have communion in a Catholic Church because he supposedly was too far from his own church to receive.

Change of heart do ya think?

Mr. Blair is right. The Catholic condom ban is putting lives at risk. Why Catholics believe that condoms must be banned doesn’t make sense to me. The best solution to the AIDs problem is to promote use of condoms in my opinion.

No. The best solution to the AIDS problem is for everyone to adopt the Catholic Church’s teaching on sex outside of marriage, and then stick to it.

James 2:24
Tony Blair is a politician and not a theologian and his comment is politically motivated. He understands little if anything of the nature of sexuality except that its an instinctual action, done anywhere, anytime, anyhow, with anybody or nobody and because of this understanding then of course condoms and ev erything else is needed. But condoms do nothing but spread further AIDS virus and possibly newer and more deadly sexually transmitted diseases. Until we as a society start to see sexuality accordinbg to the designs of our creator and as we were created, no amount of condoms or pills or vaccinations will work. Sorry he has it completely and utterly wrong!!

Holly your vision is so limited I am surprised you can put one foot in front of the other without stumbling.
Think it through.

Why do you think so, Grace Angel?
Holly is only saying what a lot of folks think.
What is YOUR vision of a perfect society?
Is there a way that you can persuade Holly without criticizing hers?
