Hi

Why catholic copy and paste the same prayers again and again in this forum

Isn’t it better to give advice and say I will pray for you and do one min of prayer?

Just because they copy and paste a prayer doesn’t mean that the poster isn’t also praying…i assume you mean the prayer intentions forums?

This is brought up about once a quarter here.
I doubt anyone will make a pronouncement about it.
Some people like to post their actual prayers.
I mostly just say I will pray.
It’s not really productive to doubt if others are praying. I just hope they are. 😉
I know some of those people from longtime posting…and I can say they really DO say those prayers. But yeah, I get what you’re saying. Perhaps the OP is comforted by seeing the prayers in print. 🤷

I like to see each copy each time it is posted. It is comforting. Comfort and hope is what is needed.

I asked about this a few months ago. to me it doesn’t seem to put much effort or thought into someone’s request, but it racks up “points” for the responders. I just don’t care for the copy and paste prayers.

If I post in the Prayer Intentions forum I really don’t want advice; I’m glad it’s an advice-free zone. Sometimes the advice can be condescending, even if well-intentioned.

What should they do instead?

Copy-pasted or not, Greek or English or not, I presume every post in Prayer Intention is sincere.

If it isn’t, there’s not much I can do about it.

I am one who types the prayer as I pray it, rather than copying prayers. It is generally an Our Father, Hail Mary, or Memorare, sometimes an individual prayer. I assume that most who copy a prayer or several prayers actually pray them, rather than just copy them down.

I usually type them out as well. Even if I copy and then paste another prayer, I will be praying that prayer as I read it, for that intention.

Ugh, I hate this. It honestly deters me from posting on this site. I already know these prayers. Just let me know you’re praying, that’s more reassuring.

It would be helpful if you add something to your post… maybe, “Pray for my intention, but I don’t want to know what prayer you’re saying!” 😉

Or they could be like me, and say a prayer, but not bother posting on the thread. 😉

I copy and paste. Then say the prayer(s) for the intention. Then submit reply.

Peace

Exactly.

What bugs me more…is someone who asks for a prayer intention and then ALSO asks for advice…and then people get slapped on the wrist for giving it.

it’s for INTENTIONS ONLY.

But yeah, assume the best in people.

I can only assume that when posting several thousand of copy and past "prayers that there isn’t a lot of thought that goes into it. Often when I respond I do add a thought to a request as I am somewhat spiritually involved in the process and it isn’t just lip service for me. Also, you may also find a prayer request in both collums. What other responders do or how they pray for others, is their business. I just don’t care for the cut and past stuff.😦

That isn’t what some do.

Or if they do, they pray faster than anyone I know.

Five or six a minute? How do they even click on the request, read the request, then say a prayer? The only answer is, they don’t.

It just makes me shake my head.

The OP may be strengthened or comforted upon seeing a positive indication that others are praying.

I’m disappointed in many of the above comments. Are we seriously judging the prayers of others? Just. Wow.

I’m not going to argue about how other people pray, nor justify any one’s choice of prayer in a Catholic forum.

Actually, these comments dismay me, at the least. At the most? I can’t even say it. 😦
