Too many rules and not enough loving?

I’m not sure if this is what the OP meant, but I see a lot of Christians (not just Catholics) who will beat you to death with rules - the same mindset as the Pharisees who didn’t want Jesus to heal on the Sabbath because is was against Jewish law. IMO:
These folks are well versed in the letter of the law, but don’t seem to grasp the spirit.

I think that acussing of lack of love to the catholics is unfair, because many catholics love and love a lot, they go where none goes and they try to get better the world. In addition protestant missioneries, want, first baptisms, and later, the help, for example the mission with muslims, however, catholics the opposite first, helping and later the conversion, the result is less conversions but faithful. That’s not really a correct understanding of the Pharisees. The Pharisees were making laws for the underlings they themselves felt they were above and would not follow privately…

Knowing the rules and teaching them to others is not the same.

Well, then let me be the first to say that not all parishes are like that. I fill in for our parish secretary when she takes vacation, has a day or two off, or is sick—and what an eye-opener it has been. Our parish does help those in need, and I am amazed at both the variety of needs and the helpfulness of the staff in meeting them. I am also amazed at the expectations of those who must think that the parish secretary, the priest, and others have nothing to do during the week but twiddle their thumbs—the parish staff are constantly busy trying to handle all of the demands made on them, while our priest ( a real saint) has a schedule that would frighten most men. If even a third of parishioners helped out with their talents instead of leaving the work to “somebody else”, our parishes would be transformed. Please don’t blame parish staff.

Yeah, like the couples who came a few years ago asking that the parish help them pay their super sized house because they made bad decisions and got in way over their heads. They felt the parish community should bail them out and they didn’t even consider maybe they should downsize. They left because they felt unsupported. You wouldn’t believe what people ask for and expect and when they are told to make adjustments they leave the parish.
