Too Much Talk of Sex and Homosexuality!!

Begin small, little things in little corners of each parish. A little new program here, a tightened up one there. Do it well and cheerfully and watch others start pitching in!

I’ve seen this with my own eyes with our Director of Religious Education. She’s a walking saint.

You may notice that the majority of our social problems revolve around a misuse of our human sexuality.

Let’s make a list of things to avoid to clear our heads of the have sex 24/7 (with whoever) media message.

It would also be helpful to find a Catholic Radio station in your area, or one on the internet.

While hearing the churches teaching from the Pope directly to another country or from his pulpit is wonderful, it isn’t going to be delivered to the entire Catholic community on a consistent basis. Just because a teacher shows you once how to or not to do something, doesn’t mean you aren’t going to fall back to your “easier” ways of doing the same problem. I think that the CC does lack in sufficient teaching from the pulpits to the lay people. Not everyone has and uses the catechism, I myself do not have one and I came here for answers, some of them being sexual in nature. IMO, if I cannot come to a forum of peers to help me find answers, then where am I to find the answers I seek? Definitely not in the media…
 
The Church’s teaching isn’t hard to find. The Catechism, supported by search engines, is on the web. The Dioceses post materials. Authors of great books are plentiful.

One of my odd habits is when on a trip or visiting a different Catholic Church is to search for and pick up a bulletin from the previous Sunday’s Mass. I read it closely asking myself the question…if I knew nothing about the Catholic Church, its doctrine, etc…what could I squeeze out of this parish this week. What’s being offered to teach its members or the curious public. It’s always overwhelmingly rich.

Don’t make a mistake of thinking that the Mass is where all the teaching is done…that’s not the purpose of the homily, or the Mass. The Mass is to adore God, to make our petitions known to Him, to give Him thanks, to ask for reparation, to join in holy communion with the whole Church, here on earth, and in the divine liturgy that goes on in heaven all the “time”.

Asking for uniform teaching is understandable…but you’re not going to get it in some nice little neat training package delivered over the course of Sunday Masses. Our Faith is too rich and full, and growth doesn’t happen like some sort of inculcation factory. It’s here and there…the Catechism is clear, beautifully written, and is supported in a million different places including this web site, and on 'each Tuesday evenings between 7-8:30 at St. So and So’s in Toledo Ohio".

Seek and you will find.

If there is a perceived obsession with sexuality on this particular website, it is only because there is a much greater obsession with it in the general society. The CAF WS only reflects in its content what all the average sinners are already thinking about.

I mean, come on, all the TV ads for Viagra…we’d have a cure for Alzheimer by now if folks were even half as concerned for their minds as men are for their sexuality.

And homosexuality is, let’s face it, somewhat strange to the majority of human life which does not practice it. Like anything strange, it draws folks’ attention.
