Since Valentine’s Day is around the corner I would like to ask everyone here to submit their top 10 list of romantic movies. If you can’t do 10 that is alright too.

Here is mine in no particular order:
  1. An Affair to remember
  2. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
  3. Ever After
  4. Casablanca
  5. A Walk to remember
  6. The Jeweller’s Shop
  7. Sound of Music
  8. Anne of Green Gables (sequel)

A&E’s Pride & Prejudice (the one with Colin Firth)
This is a great one! I also love “Sense and Sensibility” (Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman).

I have a really soft spot for “While You Were Sleeping” (Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman). It’s such a sweet, funny story.

Return to Me
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Gone with the Wind
A Walk to Remember
Sleepless in Seatle
When a Man Loves a Woman
Somewhere in Time
The Love Letter (the Hallmark made-for-TV movie with Campbell Scott and Jennifer Jason Leigh)
Love Me Tender
The Family Man

Love Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Casablanca, Pride and Prejudice, that movie of Sense and Sensibility is excellent, Gone with the wind, When Harry Met Sally, love love love the Bridget Jones movies, Romeo and Juliet (the Leo di Caprio/Claire Danes version).

Shame there’s never been a movie version of Jane Eyre made that does justice to the book. Wuthering Heights (the black and white one with Merle Oberon) is a really good version of that book though.

Casablanca
Sabrina (both versions)
While you were sleeping
Funny Girl
Dr. Zhivago
the Sound of Music
Hope Floats
Roman Holiday
Rebecca
Scarlet Pimpernel (Merle Oberon)

Cousins

And I saved the best for last:
  1. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (best romantic dialogue ever) 👍

I generally don’t like romantic movies. But the one cinema romance that I really love is “African Queen.” Both the book by Forester and the movie are wonderful.

Another romantic movie that isn’t actually listed as romance is “Silver Streak.” Gene Wilder (“George”) and Jill Clayburgh (“Hilly”) are the stars, and their romance is so sweet set against the danger and hilarity of the plot.

And of course, who could ever forget “Harold and Maude?!” I LOVED this movie! I hope it never gets a re-make because I think it was perfect the way it was.

The Notebook
Hands Down.
I bawled for 30 minutes after it was over and I NEVER cry at movies. I’m not much of a sentementalist.

The Notebook does contain some very beautiful elements but as a Guy what I didn’t like was the steamy love scenes.

First off, keep in mind that I married “gusto” instead of “romantic”, okay? (I think Erma Bombeck said that.)

That said, you can understand why I relate to the love story running through the “Rocky” series (hubby’s all-time favorite movies.) And I cried through “Rocky Balboa” for the same reason!

Other romantic movies I liked~“A Walk in the Clouds” and “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” (okay, so it’s a comedy, but change “Greek” to Mexican and you’d almost have the story of our lives!) And I also loved “Return to Me”.

Casablanca
Key Largo
Mostly Martha
Chocolate
Sorry, I only have 4 🙂
