“Miracle In The Rain”, 1956 with Van Johnson and Jane Wyman-- not on DVD currently, unfortunately. It’s a sweet, heartwarming story and guaranteed to make you cry.

Well, I prefer romantic movies with a little action, like Titanic. (I’m really watching it 'cause I get to see the lovely shipwreck…) Actually, I’d rather a bit less heaving in that movie.

What about stuff like The Cutting Edge (old version)? Funny, vaguely includes hockey, and is romantic.

But my favorite is A&E Pride and Prejudice. I own that on DVD. It was nightmarish to have watched it on A&E originally. It came in 50 minute installments, and it cut right after the scene in the parsonage with Elizabeth and Darcy!!! Man, I almost died, it was so awful. I had to wait to see what happened next. (Yes, I had read the book, so I knew, but still).

  1. LOTR (I cry every time)
  2. Toy Story 2
    5.Beauty and the Beast
  3. The Parent Trap (Hailey Mills)
  4. Cinderella
  5. Father Goose (Cary Grant)
And I saved the best for last:
  1. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith (best romantic dialogue ever) 👍
I hope everyone knows I was kidding. 😛

Whew! I was left wondering if someone had actually liked that Star Wars romance…
It reminded me of last Christmas when my roommate was watching that most Christmas of all movies Return of the Jedi. Nothing like duelling your Father to the death that brings out the Christmas spirit in all of us:D 😃 😃 😃 😃 😃

Since Valentine’s Day is around the corner I would like to ask everyone here to submit their top 10 list of romantic movies. If you can’t do 10 that is alright too.

Here is mine in no particular order:
  1. An Affair to remember
  2. Breakfast at Tiffany’s
  3. Ever After
  4. Casablanca
  5. A Walk to remember
  6. The Jeweller’s Shop
  7. Sound of Music
  8. Anne of Green Gables (sequel)
I’ll agree with your #2,#3,#5 and #7 since I’ve seen all of them.
I’d like to add The Notebook to that list. 👍 All I can think of is when the guy keeps visiting her even though she doesn’t remember him. It makes me want to :crying: thinking about it. :o

84 Charing Cross Road
A Room With a View
The Quiet Man
Disney’s Robin Hood (the animated one with the two foxes)
Disney’s Lady and the Tramp
A Little Romance (UGH I LOVE THIS MOVIE!)

That’s it for me.

  1. The Parent Trap (Hailey Mills)

Oh, Lord, Sir Trevor! Yikes! I saw this at the show back in the 60s when I was a kid. It was a double feature. Admission was .25c and we got a Black Cow or a Slow Poke (I’ll leave you to “google” them) which lasted through at least the first feature.

I hope everyone knows I was kidding. 😛
Oh thank goodness! Holding in the snarky comment was nearly killing me. 😃

I forgot “Return to Me”, “Love Actually”, and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding "(hilarious!) in my original list.

How could I forget “Shall We Dance”???

I can’t stand J.Lo and Richard Gere isn’t one of my faves, but that scene where he comes up the escalator in the tux with the single red rose for his wife… Oh! Pure romance!

Of course, I married “gusto”…

The Notebook
Hands Down.
I bawled for 30 minutes after it was over and I NEVER cry at movies. I’m not much of a sentementalist.
I agree! I’ve never bawled so hard from a movie in my life.:crying:

Casablanca
Moonstruck
It’s a Wonderful Life
When Harry Met Sally
The Notebook
Rear Window
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Dr. Zhivago
Princess Bride (he was my jr.high school love!)
Wuthering Heights

My all time, number one favorite would have to be A Room With A View. That kiss, wow!

A&E’s Pride & Prejudice is a close second.

Mine too! It’s the first answer on my lips whenever I’m asked what my fave movie is. The scenery is gorgeous, and the score to die for! I saw the opera “Gianni Schicchi” once on stage, and I couldn’t breathe while “O Mio Babbino Caro” was being sung, I was fighting back the tears. Not because of the opera Gianni Schicchi, but because of the movie A Room With a View. I can’t count the # of times I’ve seen the movie because sometimes I put it in just for backgroud noise.
